Klaus and Elijah sat opposite each other in the living room listening to classical music as they both read. The older of the two brothers was reading one of their mother's old grimoires whilst Klaus read 'A Poison Tree' by William Blake as a dead girl laid on the coffee table in front of them, her neck bleeding from puncture wounds. "So this is what you do the first time we're back together as a family? Vampire book club?" Rebekah asked in annoyance as she stormed into the living room, looking between both of her brothers with an irritated scowl.

"Reading edifies the mind, sister. Isn't that right, Elijah?" Klaus mused as he continued to read his book, not bothering to look up towards Rebekah as Elijah hummed in response, "yes, that's quite right, Niklaus," the older Mikaelson brother replied seemingly disinterested as he too refused to look up from his book. "And what's this business?" Rebekah asked as she gestured towards the dead girl on the table, her expression becoming even more irritated as her brothers refused to acknowledge her fully.

"This is a..." Elijah trailed, looking up from his book and towards the dead girl as he searched for the right word to use, "peace offering," the original finished earning a sigh from Klaus. "I presumed, after so much time desiccating in a coffin, that my big brother might be a bit peckish," the hybrid replied, causing Elijah to look at him in annoyance. "And I explained to my little brother that forgiveness cannot be bought. I'd simply prefer to see change in behaviour that indicated contrition and personal growth," Elijah retorted, earning an eye roll from the hybrid as Elijah gestured towards the table, "not this nonsense."

"Well, I couldn't very well let her go to waste, could I?" Klaus grinned in amusement as he looked from Elijah to Rebekah, causing the blonde to sigh as she folded her arms across her chest in annoyance as Elijah went back to reading the grimoire. "Well, I suppose I'll go fetch the rubbish bin, because she's staining a two hundred year old carpet," the Mikaelson girl snapped at her brothers, causing Elijah's gaze to shift back towards the dead girl on the table, watching as the blood that oozed from her neck dripped on to the carpet underneath. "Ah, yes," the older original muttered in disinterest as Rebekah stormed out of the room and he and Klaus returned to reading their books.

As they continued reading, Thea walked through the room and into the kitchen with her hand resting on her slightly swollen stomach, capturing their attention. Klaus smiled at his soulmate fondly as Elijah stood from his seat, following the young wolf into the kitchen- wanting to see how she had been whilst he was away. The Lockwood teen was rooting through the fridge as Hayley leaned on the kitchen counter near her when Elijah appeared in the doorway with a warm smile, "good morning," the original greeted, alerting his presence to the two wolves.
