In a dimly lit nursery that was undetectable by magic, Rebekah sat in a chair as she rocked her niece and nephew in a rocking crib. The blonde original smiled down at the sleepy twins as she began to tell them a fairytale of their lives. "Once upon a time, there was a majestic king who lived with his noble brother and loyal queen in a kingdom where music and art were celebrated."

"The king did not foresee having a child, but he lived in an enchanted land where all things were possible. In time, he was blessed with a beautiful baby son and daughter, for who he wished only peace," Rebekah continued, just as Kaiden let out a big yawn before cooing at Rebekah happily, causing the blonde woman to smile.

"Still, the king had demons who pursued him. There was a ruthless beast who wanted to take the kingdom for her own. Armed with a pack of untamed creatures, she drove the other magical creatures from the land. And, there was a wicked sorceress with enchanted stones that weakened the king every full moon."

"Seeing the shadow his enemies cast upon their home, the king and queen were driven to send their beloved prince and princess away, convincing all who remained that they were forever lost. The king and queen, in their sorrow, turned away from the world and each other. The castle closed its doors, and the kingdom fell."

Rebekah smiled as the twins began to fall asleep, their eyes closed as their breathing slowed. "Some say that the only light that shines in the castle illuminates the shadow of the once majestic king in the room meant for his children. But, as the ruthless beasts took rule over the fallen king's realm, little did they know that he and his brother would not rest until their enemies were vanquished."

"For they believed that one day, they would heal their kingdom and bring their precious prince and princess home so that they might live happily ever after," Rebekah finished as she looked down to find both twins fast asleep, causing a small smile to stretch across her lips as she stopped rocking the crib. As she stood from the chair, she placed Klaus' carved wooden knight between the twins before turning out the lights and leaving them to sleep.

Four months had passed since the infamous Battle of New Orleans. Four months of the French Quarter being patrolled by Francesca Guerrera and her army of werewolves. Four months since the vampires that had once called the city their home were hunted and run out of town. Four months since Thea Lockwood had flipped her humanity switch. Four months of Klaus mourning not only the loss of his son and daughter who were forced to leave their family home, but also the loss of his soulmate that detached herself from everything and everyone.
