The Prophet (salallahu 'alaihi wa sallam) said:

"Whoever makes the Hereafter their concern, Allah makes their heart content, gathers it being reluctant to do do so.

And whoever makes the world their concern, Allah places their poverty right before their eyes, scatters their affairs, and the world does not come to them, except only that which has been declared for them." [Al-tirmidhi]
