"Tony you're late! You promised you'd be on time." I said into the phone. I sat impatiently tapping my fingers on the kitchen counter.
"Baby I know. I'm so sorry. I got held up a bit longer than I expected but I'll be at your place in like the next five minutes." He said

I couldn't help but sigh audibly.
I hated being late.
"Fine I'll see you just now."
I hung out the phone and made sure I had everything. Checking all my bags.
I ran to my bedroom mirror to check my outfit out again.

I was wearing white linen shorts and a light blue blouse today. It was a beautiful summer day and I couldn't pass up the opportunity to dress accordingly.

About five minutes had passed so I made my way down stairs to the parking lot just in time to see Tony pulling up.
He parked the car in front of me then quickly stepped out to help me with my bags.
"I'm so sorry I'm late baby." He said as he gave me a kiss on the lips before taking my bags and putting them onto the backseat.

"It's okay." I said as opened the passenger side and sat down. Tony got into the car soon after and we started driving to our destination.

"Are you excited?" He said while staring at the road.

" I am. We've been planning this for the past year. I'm sure it's going to be absolutely perfect." I said.

I smiled at the thought of what today had in store. I was excited. I was probably too old to be this excited but I couldn't help it.
We listened to the radio on the drive there and chatted about how our day has been.

We Eventually pulled up in front of the house , I could already hear the loud screams and laughter of children.

I knocked on the door and soon Lauren opened the door with a huge smile on her face "you're fashionably late!" She said as she pulled me into a hug.

"I know I'm sorry about that."
Tony caught up after getting the bags from the car.
"I come with presents." He said holding more bags than I came with.

He greeted Lauren and we walked into the backyard where there are so many little kids running around.
There was a jumping castling , face painting and a treats table.

I saw Keith grilling on the other side along with some dads and some of his friends.
Their backyard was decorated with anything rainbow themed. It looked like organized chaos in the best way possible.

"This looks amazing." I said to Lauren.
"I know! Everything's kind of just fallen into place. I even got Keith to help me set up this morning." She said excitedly.

I couldn't help but feel a pang of anger at the thought that Keith was getting praised for doing something that he was supposed to be doing.

"Where can I put these down?" Tony asked from behind me.

"Oh yes. Come with me. You guys went a bit overboard." She said laughing as she lead us the presents table.

As soon as we got there Lauren had to run and sort something out, leaving us standing around the table.

"You got him some presents?" I asked excitedly.
Tony scratched the back of his neck and awkwardly looked around.
"Is that a bit weird ? You can't show up at a birthday party without a present." He said and offered me a genuine smile.

I loved seeing him smile.

"It isn't weird at all. Very thoughtful of you." I took his hand and lead him back outside.

"Let's go the treat table." I excitedly said. There were cookies, doughnuts , candy ,everything I love.
I immediately went for the gummy worms.
Before handing one to Tony. To which he politely declined.
