With a deep exhale I sat down onto a fallen log and allowed my softly aching legs their well-deserved rest. The day had been filled with Luna duties as was per usual now. Everyone wanted my advice and guidance in their everyday life. It was a little intimidating having to help with important decisions, but with Sasha's and Mrs. Braxton's guidance I have been managing to navigate through it all.

Because I had spent several days cooped up inside the pack house, while watching the rain mock me from the outside, I used the first opportunity I got to escape. The moment my Luna duties for the day had finished and I made sure it had stopped raining, I snuck out of the pack house.

I allowed the tranquility of the fresh forest to draw me deeper and deeper, until I was almost at the pack border. After the three long days, it was my first opportunity to be completely on my own.

I knew it wouldn't last long though. Sooner or later someone would come looking for me. And we all knew who that someone was.

The snap of a broken branch, which was followed by a rustle of leaves, pushed me back into the present moment. I whirled my head into the direction of the sound, curious to who had managed to locate me this quickly. Yet the pair of aqua blue eyes I came across with, wasn't one I was familiar with.

The shining eyes belonged to a young woman about my age. Her soft feminine features were hidden behind a greasy red pixie cut and spots of mud, which clung to her otherwise light skin. What stood out even more were the baggy clothes hanging off her body. The dark green T-shirt was obviously a man's shirt, as was the pair of black shorts she was wearing. I could only fathom why she would choose to wear men's clothes and such large ones at that.

We silently stared at each other for few moments, while I waited for my racing heart to settle down.

"Hello." I was the first one to speak.

I waited for her answer, but she continued to wordlessly stare back at me. Hadn't she heard me?

"Who are you?" I tried again.

"Who are you?" She echoed. Her voice was laced with a serrated edge, making it seem like it had been a while since she last spoke.

"My name is Naia. Now, it's your turn."

Her muscular form had me guessing that she was a werewolf. She certainly didn't look like an ordinary human. Instead of panic and fear, however, I felt safe. There was just something about her.

"Ren."

She ran her eyes up and down my body; obviously assessing me. One of her eyebrows quirked, but I had no idea what it was supposed to mean.

"What are you doing here, human?"

The way she formed her question told me that she definitely wasn't a human. Because I was sure she wasn't a part of Blue Moon, it could only mean one thing.

She was a rogue.

"I'm part of the Blue Moon pack."

I decided to keep the part about being the Luna to myself. There was, after all, still a possibility that she was here on some misguided grudge against the pack.

"So that's where I am. Good to know." I wasn't sure if I was meant to hear that because she had spoken with a voice barely above a whisper.

"Isn't it unfair that you know my species, but I don't know yours?" I wanted her to confirm my suspicion. Or better yet, I wanted her to reveal what she was doing on our land.

"Not my problem." She shrugged.

Despite her nonchalant answer, she opened her mouth and with a wicked smile flashed her canines. Her eyes darkened into a pitch black, which made her look even more scary. Then in the split of a second she was back to normal.

Just when I was about to ask her what she was doing here, her entire body tensed. I could almost see her ears perk up, as she seemed to be listening to something my human ears couldn't catch.

"Thanks for the chat, but I gotta go."

With a quick wave she spun around like the most graceful ballerina I had ever seen. In the next moment she was already gone. Not a single sign of her ever being here in the first place.

Several heartbeats later the sound of approaching footsteps finally reached my human ears. I turned my head in the said direction just as a familiar guy shot out from the woods. And, of course, he was wearing one of his favorite deep scowls.

"Where have you been?" Jared pulled me off the log and into his arms.

"I came here for a bit of fresh air." I sneaked my own arms around his body and rested my cheek against his shirt.

"How many times have I told you not to wander out of the pack house on your own?" While his voice held an edge of steel, his hold on me was feather like soft.

"Just as many times as I have told you that my sense of direction is far better than yours."

"When are you—" He stopped and sniffed the surrounding air. "Why do I smell a rogue. Are you okay? Did anyone—"

"I'm fine. Forget about her."

I untangled myself from him and began pushing him back into the direction of the pack house. And when I say push, I mean fail to move him for even an inch.

"Her?" He continued to scan the forest surrounding us.

Because no matter how hard I pushed he refused to budge, I formed a new plan. Without as much as a glance at him, I headed back into the direction of the pack house. As expected it took him only a few seconds before he appeared right next to me. He was becoming predictable.

I sneaked one last glance backwards, hoping to catch one last glance of the rogue. But there was nothing but an empty forest stretching behind us.

I knew how much werewolves despised rogues; almost as fiercely as hunters. Yet for some reason I didn't want Jared or any of the other warriors to catch Ren. I didn't know why, but I felt like she deserved to get away.

I snuck my hand into Jared's and then glanced up at the sky. I couldn't help but wonder what kind of story hid behind the fierce looking she-wolf.

Hi!

I hoped you enjoyed this little chapter. It's a quick sneak peak of the protagonist of my next story Red Moon. Here's your first look at the summary:

Rely only on yourself.

This is the rule Ren, an eighteen-year-old werewolf, lives by. Since the early age of ten she has only one goal on her mind; to become the Beta of Black Moon. However, the Moon Goddess seems to have other things in store for her.

When her pack gets attacked, Ren's mother goes missing and because Ren knows that she could never be able to defend herself, she leaves the pack to find her. However, her noble decision forces her to become a rogue, a creature she had spent her entire life loathing.

While searching for her mother she runs across some unexpected obstacles, the biggest of which happens to be something that isn't supposed to exist. Her mate.

Red Moon is now officially up on Wattpad, so I hope to see you guys in my next story.

Also for the last time in this story, please, remember to vote and comment if you like the bonus chapter.
