Arranged Marriage

Chapter 28

Maya is sitting with Raven in her lap.
The ten month baby is fast asleep and Maya is busy with wedding arrangements.
She is very glad she doesn't have to pretend.
She loves Josh and she knows she will be able to be with him forever.
But she doesn't entirely know how she feels about her in laws.
She loves the Matthews but being one herself is a bit scary.

Maya puts Raven in her stroller which is next to her and decides to make sure everything is done.
She has moved in at Josh's about six weeks ago which was one of the best decisions she has ever made.

But ever since that she hasn't been distant from Riley.
She hasn't been going there very often but she's sure that will change very soon.
But she has another reason besides her fiancé.
She has to take care of her sister as well and that is a challenge.
Taking care of a ten month baby has its own challenges which she is prepared for.
Even Josh got more involved with Raven and Maya loves it.

"She asleep?" Josh asked as he stepped in the apartment.
"Yeah. She was actually very good today," Maya said.
"I'm glad. How do you feel since we told my brother about your parents?" Josh asked.
"Better. I know I have to tell them a lot of things but to start with I'll just tell them that. I really can't wait till school closes," Maya said as Josh poured some coffee.
"I would think so. Anyway my parents wants to see us tonight."
"Why?" Maya said.
"They just want to discuss a few things with us," Josh said.
"Okay that seems fair. Probably worried about everything. The wedding is around the corner and it isn't always a good idea leaving everything to be. Your father is probably burning to find out what is happening since Raven is with me to the business," Maya said and got a text.
"The trust. My mother and father put together a trust when I was three for when I graduate. It pays out next week," Maya said.
"Sounds like they wanted to make sure you are okay when something happens," Josh said.
"How late are your parents coming?" Maya asked.
"Five," Josh said.
"Could you take Raven to her room? I want to go shower and just get ready."
"Yeah sure," Josh said.

Maya jumped in the shower and quickly got dressed.
After that she did her make-up and combed her hair.
She went in front and then she decided to get started on dinner.

After she got out Josh jumped in the shower and that made everything a bit better.
Maya then decided on something simple.
She made a shepherd's pie and a quick salad.

"Wow you look gorgeous," Josh said and gave Maya a kiss on her cheek.
"Thanks. Is she still asleep?"
"Yeah I just checked on her. I'm really surprised how she has been behaving. Like you carried on she was a nightmare," Josh said.
"Usually she was. But since she is with me and you she isn't. Maybe she detected that something was going on with my parents. She definitely is behaving a lot..."

Before Maya could finish she heard the bell go off.
Clearly it was the in-laws.

"Hi Mom, Dad. Come in," Josh said.
"Thanks. Hi Maya. How are you?" Amy asked and greeted Maya.
"I'm good. Welcome," Maya said.
"Thank you. Wow something smells delicious," Allan said.
"Shepherd's pie and a Greek salad," Maya said.
"Sounds like heaven," Amy said.

"What did you guys want to discuss with us?" Josh asked.
"Not much. I just wanted to let you know that I've arranged everything for when Maya is starting. You have your own office and if you want to bring Raven or your own children to work someday there is place," Allan said.
"Thank you Mr Matthews. I appreciate it very much," Maya said and they heard a cry.
"I'll go get her," Maya said.

"I'm amazed. She is handling everything so well. Since we told Cory last week she has been more relaxed. Think that was a big deal," Josh said.
"Look who's awake," Maya said.
"Hello Raven," Amy said and Raven reached out for Amy.
"Wanna go to her? Do you have her?" Maya asked and gave Raven to Amy.
"She looks a lot like Shawn," Amy said.
"I'll dish up."
