Chapter 16

"I can't believe that he asked you out to that event! First it was Cale, now Ethan? I am so jealous, Dree." Ava said looking at Audrey who was wearing a long sleeveless full beaded cream gown. The V neckline showed moderate cleavage while the backless gown showed her bare back to her waist. The gown hugged her body perfectly showing her amazing curves. The gown was long and flowed to the floor. Her hair was swept to the side elegantly, the nude lipstick blend perfectly with her simple make-up. She took her clutch bag and winked at her friend.

"I was surprised as you are when he asked me to come as his date tonight. I'm scared to be honest. I don't want to put my hopes too high, knowing him as he is, yet deep inside I'm flattered. But what if I am just another prized girl for him and then toss me when he's bored." She said taking a seat on her bed.

"Well, if you don't try, you won't know. Are you willing to take the risk? But if you ask me, I sense that he really do like you, Dree. The way he looked at you is not how anyone would simply do to random chick. You can't always back out when things start to get serious Dree. You have to give it a try." She said trying to reassure her friend, just then the doorbell rang. They both hurried to the living room before checking on herself one last time and opened the door.

"Hi, you look... stunning." Ethan said gazing at her from head to toe. Ethan was wearing a perfectly tailored black tuxedo with white shirt and a black bowtie. His hair was slick to the back perfectly. He held his hands out and allowed her to walk in front of him towards the car as he places his hand on the small back of her waist. They stepped into the car as the driver held open the door and drove to the event location. Once, they arrived at Loyd's Hotel, the driver went to open the door for them.

"Stay close to me." He said to her and helped her to step out of the car. The paparazzi and media stormed towards them and took flashes of pictures of the most important man for tonight's event. They stepped into the ballroom which was decorated impressively. He introduced her to his friends and colleagues as they walked towards their seat. As they reached the table, she saw an older man who looked strikingly familiar to Ethan talking to someone beside him.

"Father." He nod to his father.

"This is Audrey. Audrey, this is my father Keane Loyd." He introduced her to his father and they shook hands. Taking their seats at the table, they sat awkwardly with his father not exchanging any words. After a few minutes, she excused herself to monitor the kitchen on the food and beverages preparations. She cross checked with Carrie who was in charge today and was satisfied with the process. She was walking back to her table and saw Ethan talking dangerously  close to a beautiful red headed lady. Briefly, he excused himself and came back to the table with two glasses of wine. She tried to dismiss the thought. Halfway through the event, he leaned towards her.

"Want to get out of here?" He suggested as he smug.

"Are you out of your mind. May I remind you that this is your event, sir." She responded in surprise.

"I know that but the important part are done. Plus I hate leaving you all alone to greet people whom I don't really want to talk to. Let's go." He took her hand and walked casually towards the door. He called his driver to pick them from the backdoor. Roamed around the city and decided to stop at the legendary gelato ice cream stall after she recommended to get an ice cream.

"Come on. You're not just going to sit there and watch me eat, you have to at least try this!" She said scooping a spoonful of pistachio ice cream towards him. He reluctantly leaned forward to take a taste from her spoon. She wriggled her eyebrows waiting for his response.

"It's good but I'm not into ice cream." He said watching her scooping and licking her ice cream.

"Then why do you agree to go to an ice cream store." She asked. Finished her ice cream and they carried on talking until the store closes.

"Let's get you home, Miss Chef." He held out her hands and they walked back to the car.
