A/n Sorry, this imagine is a little shorter than normal. But I hope you enjoy it. And thank you for reading and voting!!
"We will have to go through the city," I said picking up my backpack and looking at the broken straps, "Which has it's pros and cons." I ripped one of the straps off and tied it to some excess fabric at the bottom corner. Now I could tie the two straps together and where it across my shoulders and waist. I slipped it on, making sure it worked.
"When are we gonna leave?" Frypan asked, sitting against the wall.
I sighed, tired of thinking and doing anything. I rubbed my forehead with my fingers. "We'll leave in the morning, the storm isn't over yet and I wanna let Minho recuperate a little before we go." I saw a few nods and heard some agreements from the boys.
I leaned up against the wall I was closest too and slowly slid down, favoring my leg that got stabbed. I had discarded the leather holster and moved it to the other leg, to help prevent infection. I leaned my head against the wall and closed my eyes. How did I get into this mess?
I felt someone move next to me and slide down the wall like I did. I turned my head to see Newt. I gave him a small smile.
"Hey," he said, returning the smile.
"Hey." I'd lie if I said that my smile didn't grow.
He glanced down and repositioned himself so he was facing me better. "Can I help you with your leg?"
I furrowed my eyebrows in confusion, until I looked down and saw my stab wound. I took a deep breath and gave a short chuckle. "Oh, yeah...that. I-I didn't even know you noticed."
I looked away from him and tucked a piece of hair behind my ear. He moved so he was sat in front of me. "May I?" He gestured to my leg.
I nodded, so he grabbed my leg and placed it onto his lap. He inspected the cut and grabbed a bottle of water before pouring some into it. I hissed at the pain
Newt mumbled a sorry before taking a cloth and dabbing at it. I looked at him the whole time. His eyes were glued to my leg and his eyebrows were knitted into concentration. My heart rate increased. I bit my lip, from the pain and from the way he made me feel.
Once he was done cleaning the wound he undid the cloth tied around his hand and slowly placed under my own leg and started wrapping it. Everytime his fingers brushed my leg butterflies buzzed through my body. He finished and fastened it in place.
"There that should keep most of the sand out. Hopefully it will keep it from infection." His brown eyes switched from my leg to my face. He didn't remove his hand from my thigh; the feeling left me breathless.
I hesitated slightly before placing my own hand on top of his. "Thank you." His eyes met mine and I got lost in them for a second. I had just met this guy and with every word he spoke I fell further and further for him. What was wrong with me?
...
The next morning, we gathered all our stuff and headed out into the city. As we walked, I realized just how much we were running out of supplies. Water was decreasing faster than you could say, WICKED is good. With the rate it was going we would have to stop for the day well before nightfall.
"Maybe we should stop." I said, trudging through the sand next to Newt.
No one complained or said anything, so I took their silence as an agreement. I pointed out the closest building, one with the most borders, and we walked heavily over.
We broke off the boards and bust open the door. Exhausted, I was tempted to throw myself onto the floor, but instead, I held onto Newt and helped the other's inside. Newt placed his hand around my waist and brought me into him.
We stared into each other's eyes in perfect silence. Everyone else had made it to the ground and some were already asleep.
I knew I should have scouted for cranks, but it felt wrong to leave Newt's arms.
"We should, uh, we should probably get some rest." Newt mumbled after a while. I nodded and brushed a strand of hair behind my ear.
We picked a corner and layed down together. I let Newt lay his head on my broken backpack and I layed on his chest. We didn't discuss doing this and I don't know why we did, but something about it felt all too right. Like he was the missing piece in my puzzle.
He wrapped his arms around me and made me feel cared for and protected. The only sound that night was the rain beating down on the walls and my soft humming.
It was broken, but it was perfect. At least....for now.
