{at a loss}

Jimin sat cross legged on the porch of the old run down cottage, a cool autumn breeze entangling itself through his golden blonde hair, tousling it into a mess as he sucked in a deep breath of the earthy smell of nature. His deep hazel eyes focused on the expanse of land before him, lips parted as he tuned out all his troubles and focused on the present moment.

The meadow was a glorious expanse of grass and flowers, rustling gently in the soft breeze. There was a narrow brook flowing through it, choked with weeds from a lack of maintenance. The sun was slowly rising against the horizon, golden rays casting a glow against Jimin's honey like skin as he soaked up all the warmth it had to give, eyes softening at the sky full of both pink and purple hues.

It hadn't even been 24 hours. Not even one day since the squad had faced off between camp Delta at the science facility. Not even a day since Daisy's passing.

After the event, the squad decided to pull themselves together and find a safer place to stay before nightfall. Seeing as most of them were originally from this town, finding a place of accommodation wasn't that difficult. The squad ended up agreeing on an old cottage located in the middle of one of the two valleys located in the area. The fields were large and flat, the grass only ankle length making it easy to watch for any signs of the infected, and a river ran through the centre providing them with a clean source of fresh water. Their only problem at this stage was the fact that they'd only come with the supplies on their backs, most of which were now useless after passing through water not too long ago.

At this stage however, everyone was tired. No one had the thought processes left to even think about their next move, so everyone simply went to sleep after they had stumbled across the cottage.

So why was Jimin currently watching the sunrise? He couldn't sleep, not after loosing a friend yesterday.

He would just get nightmares.

Letting his chest rise and fall at a steady pace, Jimin watched as the sun rose higher in the sky. It filled it with blended tones of rosy pinks and sandy yellows. A subtle way to welcome a new day, a new beginning. Leaning his back against the wooden seat, Jimin waited with patience admiring a more slow paced setting for a change, something he rarely experienced anymore during the fast paced atmosphere of the apocalypse. Suddenly, the mighty sun breached the horizon and the sky exploded with beautiful colours.

In that moment, the field was more vibrant than any fresh mango or tangerine could ever be. A mere glimpse of heaven that quickly faded into the blue. Sunlight filled the air, gently kissing the faces of all the good things wild and free. The peace Jimin felt during those fleeting seconds became eternal as he drew in the deepest breath and lost himself in the morning view.

The sound of heavy footsteps climbing up the stairs of the porched pulled Jimin's attention back into reality, combat boots landing against the wooden boards as Yoongi joined Jimin on the porch.

Letting out a breath of air, Jimin closed his eyes, "Is it done?"

Casting his gaze to the floor, Yoongi's hair fell over his tired eyes as he gave a small nod, "Yeah... it's done." he sighed, biting down on his lower lip, "She can rest now," Yoongi spoke, pulling up a chair beside Jimin as he too took a seat, "This world just wasn't meant for someone like her."

Opening his eyes once again, Jimin's gaze fell back on the horizon, "At least Hoseok managed to make her last four years joyous." he spoke with gratitude. "Speaking of Hoseok... has he spoken to you yet?"

Ruffling his wind tousled hair, Yoongi shook his head, "No. To be honest I think he'll need a bit of alone time." Yoongi spoke through twisted lips as he recalled how terribly the orange haired male had reacted to Daisy's passing. It seemed as if Daisy was the only person holding him together during these past four years, now Hoseok felt at a loss, like he had absolutely nothing to fight for.
