Asano's P.O.V.

I woke up suddenly, sitting upright in my bed with a gasp.

"Karma!"

I looked around the room, but I was alone.

I threw the blankets off me, and stared in shock at all the bandages on my body.

The events of earlier came crashing back to me, and I winced, trying to shut them out. I didn't have time to think about Hirabayashi's betrayal or the fact I was never going to get to talk to Markus now, I just had to get to Karma- key be damned. I would blow up that door if I had to.

I jumped out of bed, determined to-

I cried out as I collapsed to the floor, pain stinging through all my bandages. My face was in agony the most.

Weakly, I pushed myself to be on all fours, shaking at the effort it took.

I severely overestimated how much my body could take, and underestimated the severity of my injuries.

My door opened and my father walked in.

"Asano!" He set the tray he was holding down and ran over. "Just what did you think you were doing? You can't be out of bed yet, do you even know the extent of your own injuries? How much blood you lost? The high possibilty of infection?"

"Karma." I said stubbornly.

He sighed.

He picked me up and carried me back to bed.

He grabbed the tray, which was full of food and a cup of pills, and took a seat at the end of my bed.

"We have a few things to discuss first." He said sternly.

"But Karma-"

"Isn't dead." He said. "You said it yourself. And believe me, I want to rescue him too. But we really need to have a talk before we do anything."

I sighed, knowing I couldnt get past him in my current state.

"Fine." I laid back on my pillow.

"First, tell me. Does this all still have to do with that night when you first told me you saw a monster in the woods?" He asked.

I thought back to that night, when Karma had showed up at the right moment to intervene with my fight with the beast. How I saved the day, not him. Our midnight rendezvous. The tunnel, me stealing his clothes, his recording me saying he was right...

I nodded.

My father looked at the ground. "I'm sorry I didn't believe you then."

"It's fine. I probably wouldn't have believed me either." I said.

"When you were in the hospital, Karma told me about Creation Enterprises and how Markus K Emri's research made those terrible...things." He continued. "And now Hirabayashi is also in on this?"

I nodded again, reaching out to take the cup of water from the tray. "He was spying on the school, where the main monster attacks were happening. Makes sense now, when I think about it. That's where their secret base of operations was located- not at the library like Karma thought."

My father was silent for a while, and when I looked up, his face was pale.

"What?" I asked, knowing that wasn't a good sign.

"They're operating from within the school?" He choked out.

I nodded, my face grim. "The construction in the west wing? It's just a front. There's a door there- that's what I needed to talk to Markus for, he might be the only one to know where the key is."

My father jumped off the bed, pulling out his phone and dialing.

I watched, confused as to what he was doing.

"Vice principal Tomo?" He said, his voice still as authoritive as ever.

There was a pause, and then my father suddenly shouted.

"Evacuate the school immediately!"

Karma's P.O.V.

I was frozen, staring at the person who entered the room.

"Karma-chan," their voice purred, walking into the room at a calm, slow pace. "It's been so long! I suppose I'll have to call you Karma-kun now!"

I shook my head, backing up until I hit the wall and could go no further. "N-no, this is impossible!"

"Nothing is impossible," her sweet voice filled my ears, despite her still being a few feet away.

"But..." My mind whirled, trying to put the pieces and figure this all out, without collapsing from the stress and confusion.

She continued to walk closer, and I panicked, running to the other side of the room.

"But..."

She frowned. "Karma-kun, this isn't how I expected our reunion to be."

"But..."

She changed her course and headed towards me. "I missed you so much, Karma-kun."

Her white dress billowed around her, making her look like an angel.

"But..."

I blinked and suddenly she was in front of me.

Her sweet smell entranced me, just as it always had. But now it was more sickening than sweet.

She reached a hand out and cupped my face, softly caressing my cheek.

I froze, heart pounding.

"But...

She leaned in and our foreheads touched.

...you're dead."
