"will time to get up, we're going ice skating" joyce said while shaking her son awake

"mom i don't wanna skate" will groaned closing his eyes again and turning over

"cmon it'll be fun," joyce said with a smile on her face, "mike will be there"

"that's exactly why it won't be fun"

"will it's not a choice, you're coming"

"why can't i go see robin"

"will byers, get up now and you're going ice skating. you can see robin after" with that joyce left the room shutting the door behind her.

will glared at the door where joyce had just left. this was going to be awful.

will was silent the whole way to the rink, mike was shooting him nervous glances as if he was unsure wether to speak or pretend will wasn't there all together.

however of course el was as happy as can be, laying on mike's shoulder and holding his hand.

will quickly got out of the car and walked over to get skates, trying to avoid everyone as much as possible

"you okay will?" mike finally spoke approaching the smaller boy

"i'm fine" will snapped

"do you know how to skate" mike asked softly reaching out to put his hand on wills shoulder but will quickly moved away

"yes i know how to skate. me and eddie go skating all the time"

"who's eddie" mike said, a hint of jealously creeping into his voice that will didn't miss

mikes face fell and suddenly will felt bad

"oh, i'm sure he's nice" mike said quietly

"yeah we get along really well and i've finally found someone that understands"

will laughed, "that i don't like girls for a reason wheeler"

with that will walked away skates in hand leaving mike in shock

will skated alone for three hours, no one even tried to talk to him, no one tried to see if he was okay. it was as if everyone had again forgotten that will byers existed. will finally got mad and yelled that he was leaving, and no one even looked up at him. so a very pissed off and hurt will byers wandered off to robins house.

"oh my god you came" robin said joyously, "steve! wills here"

robin pulled will into the house and soon enough steve came running around the corner

"oh my god hi kid, i haven't seen you in a while" steve said ruffling wills hair

"don't do that," will said swatting away steve's hand

"is everything okay will?" robin asked sitting down on the couch

"yeah, yeah i'm fine"

"bullshit" steve says taking a seat beside robin

"i'm fine" will repeated again but this time he was holding back tears because he wasn't fine. not at all.

"kid what wrong," robin said softly

will started crying and everything he had been holding in just spilled out at once,

"so i go to derry right? and everyone just forgets about me. and even my bestfriend does but of course he has time to phone his girlfriend every day but he didn't phone me. not once. when i get back for christmas, he didn't even notice me till hours later. he just seems to have forgotten i exist. everything's about el now. he holds her hand, brings her on dates, falls asleep with her in his arms, phones her and talks to her for hours but i want to be the one doing that stuff with him and i hate that i want that."

robin wrapped her arm around wills shoulders, "byers are you gay?" she asked softly

robin sighed and simply pulled will closer

steve finally spoke, "i know how much it hurts to watch someone you love, love someone else. it's the worst and i am so sorry you have to go through that kid, but i promise you it will get easier and you will find someone else someday"
