We pulled up to my sister's school, and I immediately got out of the car. I looked at the school building, but then my eyes fell upon my drone. It was still uncloaked, still visible, and all the adults in there will know exactly what it is. They'll know I'm in the Game, and will probably initiate a lockdown and call the police.
"This is going to be difficult," I muttered under my breath, then raised my voice, "Can I request that Dan's drone follow me inside?"
"You're designated drone will remain with you," A sharp voice sounded from my drone.
I sighed, looking at Dan as he got out of the car, "Here goes nothing..."
"Hold on," Dan said, making me stop, "Do you want me to go in and bring her out here?"
I rolled my eyes, "They won't let you, she's not your sister. You stay here, I'll just go around the side, it's almost the end of her lunch recess."
The bell then rang, signalling the end of that recess I just mentioned. I jogged for the side of the building, going around to the back and leaning against the wall, just out of sight of the teachers. I was hoping to hell my sister would come to this entrance and see me. I had a clear view of all the kids running to the door. To my relief, the drone also stayed relatively out of sight.
"Come on, come on..." I muttered, glancing back and forth between the line of kids and my drone, which seems to be searching for my sister as well. When its camera stopped moving so much and it flew a little higher, my eyes locked onto where it was looking. There she was. Daisy. She was with her friends, laughing and smiling. It looked like they just raced to the door and Daisy won. Good for her...
...God... here it goes...
I waved my hand at the drone, and it looked at me. I said, "Could you try to stay here?"
Without waiting for an answer, I walked out from my hiding spot. The teacher holding open the door immediately saw me, and so did Daisy.
"Davie!" My sister squealed, jumping at me.
"Woah, Daisy!" I staggered back, catching her in a hug, "Hey, how was recess?"
"Okay." My sister drew back and said a bit more sadly, "But where did you go for so long, Davie?"
"...I'll get to that, " I looked over at the teacher who was coming over to us, and I said I her, "It's a PA day for my school, if you're wondering why I'm here. I just need to talk to my sister for a little bit, if that's okay."
Then I saw the teacher's eyes move behind me, and I knew she saw my drone. Her eyes widened, and she reached for her radio.
I quickly said, "P-Please, this is important, y-you have to understand that I-I might not get another chance to talk with her for a long while."
"Davie, what are you talking about?" My sister said, looking up at me quizzically.
I put Daisy down on her paws as the teacher and I had a staredown. Finally, she lowered her radio and said, "Alright, just make it quick."
"Thank you," I nodded, watching as the teacher went over and stood by the door. I knelt back down to my sister, taking her hand carefully, "Sis-"
"Davie, why are you sad?" Daisy booped my nose, "Don't be sad!"
I attempted a smile, "I-I'm sorry, it's just... This is hard to say..." I looked down a bit, "I... You heard me say I might not be able to talk to you for a while, right?" She nodded, and I cringed, "Y-You want to know why, r-right?"
"...Davie-"
"L-Let me finish, please," I blinked through the tears that were welling up in my eyes, "I love you more than anything Daisy, a-and... I-I won't be at home anymore because... I-I'm..." I took a deep shaky breath, "I-I'm-"
