Annabeth's POV
Today was pretty boring. I couldn't sit with my usual group at lunch since I had to finish some extra credit for AP Stats, and I fought with some Luke kid today in history. Asshole, trying to excuse the usage of slaves and their inhumane treatment in Ancient Rome. The kid's starting to get on my nerves. Other than that, no major wrinkles. Jason was acting a little funny, kept sneaking glances at Percy and me during our classes, then winking at Percy. I ignored it as best I can. Admittedly, I was a bit preoccupied by thoughts of my stepmom- she's been acting bitchier than usual lately. But I doubt anybody notices.
At the moment, I'm walking through Central Park. It's starting to get a bit chillier, but I'm willing to deal with it if it means I don't have to take the subway.
I open Snapchat and click through my recents. No one's getting more than forehead pics over here. I'm surprised to see snaps from both Percy and Jason.
I open them and continue across the park. I cross at Fifth Avenue, letting my mind drift. I basically zone out until I'm home.
After a pretty normal night (as normal as it gets, anyway), I'm exhausted. Luckily, I was able to finish the little homework I got today during free period. I sigh and crawl into bed. I scroll through my Snapchat one last time, mostly leaving people on opened until a blue text symbol catches my eye. I raise my gaze slightly, surprised to see Percy's name over it. I tap to open.
hey, j making sure ur all g w ur stepmom? lol no shade but she seemed like kind of a bitch..
Well, he got something right. I quickly type out a reply.
yeah, all good here. see you at school tmr. gn
His Bitmoji pops up almost as soon as I click send. Screenager.
kk. goodnight.
We both leave the chat.
I click my light off.
