Athena - The Luna Warrior

Chapter 10

Athena's POV

"Athena Xiphos, would you please come with me to my pack tomorrow?"

I was expecting this to pop up soon. But what I misjudged was how soon.

"Baby, say something" pleaded Lucas.

Shock was visible on my face and honestly, I did not know how to put it forward.

"Is it a no?" he whispered, making my heart break.

"No,no" I said quickly, "it is not a no, but I have one condition."

For a few seconds his eyes lit up.

"What is the condition?"

I took a deep breath.

"Okay Lucas, what I am going to tell you is very important for me okay?"

"Okay Athie, anything for you."

"My pack, the Xiphos pack was attacked by a neighboring pack when I was three. My parents had hidden me in the attic of the barn and walked out to fight. For days, there was raging fire which killed all of our pack and destroyed our pack houses. My parents were killed, our warrior was beheaded and all of this went on while I was in hiding."

Lucas indicated me to go on while I took a deep breath to collect myself. His left hand left my waist and grazed my cheek.

"On the last day of the retreat, the enemy warriors were scourging for supplies and they found me in the barn. For once I thought they were going to kill me, but the New Rules were already in place so the Alpha was forced to hand me over to Camp Rogue. I have been here for fifteen years, trying to mend my ways for the helpless situation I was in. My dream has always been to join a pack as a warrior and this is what I want from you."

Lucas looked at me with dark eyes. It was clear that his wolf was taking over. I gripped his left wrist to calm him down.

"Alpha Lucas, I will come with you tomorrow. But I want to be accepted in your pack as a warrior. I want to fight alongside you and your pack's warriors and fighters."

He stared at me for a minute.

"But you are my Luna, our Luna, how can I let you fight?"

A feeling of annoyance overtook me.

"What do you mean Lunas cannot fight? Lunas can and will fight. And moreover, I am not made to be any stuck-up Luna."

The air was thick.

Sensing my anger, Lucas cupped my cheeks.

"Sweetheart, you can fight. But as my Luna. Lunas can fight and I do not deny it. But what about our pack? We need a Luna. Hell, I need a Luna. I need you Athie."

I gulped.

Mate cares whined my wolf.

"Luca" I said, with my palms wrapped around both his wrists, "I am an asset to your pack. I know how to fight and even though I may become the Luna one day, you will see me fight alongside you. Please, I have been wanting to be a warrior since a very long time. I want to join your pack and be one. I don't want to be seen as a stuck-up Luna."

He brought his head forward. Our foreheads touched.

Lucas took a deep breath.

"Once I announce that I have found my mate, we will have to complete the Luna ceremony soon. What do you want from me love?"

"I will come to your pack as a pack warrior. All I am asking is for a few weeks. I want to fit in as a warrior, fight for our pack. I will stay in the pack house during this time and then you can introduce me as the Luna when ready."

Lucas's eyes glistened.

After what seemed to be an eternity, he finally spoke.

"Yes. We keep this a secret. For now, only a few will know. But when you are ready, and I hope the time comes very soon, I want to claim you as my Luna."

I nodded in agreement.

"Thank you Luca" I said, surprising myself by what I did next.

I stood on my toes to reach his left cheek and gave a him a peck.
