Lucas's POV

After Dr. Sanchez had allowed me to see my mate, I stayed with her for an hour. My mind kept repeating the incidents of the night and my wolf kept blaming me for the misery we were in.

Only if we could have protected our mate, only if we could have agreed to her wishes earlier Leon kept whining.

I did not want to respond. I was already submerged in guilt and shame of being an Alpha who could not be there for his mate.

"I will always be there for you Athie" I whispered, caressing the back of her hand.

"Alpha, you will have to leave now. She needs to have a good night's rest. So do you."

I looked back to see Dr. Sanchez.

I nodded and made it out of the room.

"How is the Luna?" said Brandon, "you spent a long time in there."

Ignoring his suggestive tone, I took a seat beside him.

"What is happening? Where are Ari and Vincent?"

"They are on their way here. Your mother is also tagging along with them."

I got up in a jolt.

Shit! Why is mamma with them?

"What happened? What's wrong?" asked Brandon, getting up from his seat.

"Mamma's with them" I said, "what do I tell her? I hid my mate from her!"

My Beta rolled his eyes.

"Really?! After all this time you are scared what will Luna Irene say about your mate? She practically was pushing you to meet one!"

"I know that! But I hid the fact that I had already met my mate from her!"

"Luca, you are just overreacting."

"Damn! What do I tell her? How will I escape her wrath?"

"Whose wrath?"

We turned our heads in unison. I froze.

"Whose wrath figlio?"

Mamma had the smile of an Ice Queen on her face.

"Nobody's wrath mamma" I mumbled.

"Oh il mio povero bambino" said my mother embracing me, "you do not need any wrath me. You were just doing what seemed right."

I hugged her back.

"I am sorry mamma, I could not introduce her earlier becau-"

"Shh my child, I know everything. Your sister told me."

I smiled at her.

"So you understand? You are not angry at me?"

"Of course not, I am not angry at you or Athena. You both did what you thought was right. But I am angry at Ariana."

My mood soured. Where was the little devil?

"Where is she?" My tone was angry.

"She is hiding from you. Down the hall, to the left."

Before anyone could pull me back, I walked towards her.

How dare she put my mate in danger? How dare she even take my mate to a nightclub?

Anger was clouding my eyes. Delta or sister, we really needed to talk.

Reaching down the hall, I turned left. The scene in front of me had me transfixed.

Ariana was sitting in one of the waiting chairs and Vincent was kneeling down in front of her. Their hands were clasped and faces inches away from each other.

What the actual fuck?

"What's going on here?"

My voice boomed in the hallway. All of a sudden, they broke off and Vincent got up to his feet.

"Alpha" he said, his eyes meeting the floor.

I looked at Ariana who was also avoiding my eye.

"Leave us Vincent" I said, keeping my gaze on my sister.

"What the fuck were you guys doing?" I said the moment the Head Warrior was out of sight.

For the first time in our conversation, Ariana met my eye.

"You saw what you saw" she shrugged.

"What the fuck is that supposed to mean? You are only sixteen! You are not even eligible to meet your mate! Do you think it is a good idea to fool around?"

Ariana's gaze turned ice cold.

"That is between me and my future mate. Who are you to tell me what to do and what not to do?"

Our conversation could be heard by anybody passing by. But the hallway was empty and the nurse's station was a long way from here. I was more than glad to have this argument right now.

"So do you mean to say that when you meet your mate and tell him about your escapades, he is going to be proud of it?!"

"Like I said, that is none of your business."

I hissed in annoyance.

"So I can tell your future mate about how you put your Luna's life in danger when you were sixteen? Is that allowed?"

Ariana's tear-brimmed eyes met mine.

"Oh Luca" she sobbed, throwing her arms around me, " I am so sorry, I did not mean for all of this to happen. I mean-"

My anger cooled down listening to my sister sob. I embraced her back and cooed like back when we were kids.

"Ari, it is okay. I know you did not do that on purpose. But you are too young to go to a nightclub. I am angry at you for putting yours and my mate's life in danger. You cannot be too careful."

"I am sorry Luca, I promise, I will never go to a nightclub again."

I sighed and kissed her forehead.

"It is okay Ari, it is okay for now."
