I See Through

Changes

How long does it take to lose loves fire

To lose the yearning and burn of desire

The only constant thing that exists

Lies hidden in change causing mists

The changes are small tender affairs

Subtly creeping in like gray in our hairs

The comfort of same make us unaware

Change is always constantly there

The wrinkle of skin or gray patched hair

Thoughts today just were not there

Everything changes no matter how nice

Burns out a heat much colder than ice

I'd love to love you the way that it was

I can't bring that back simply because

Change is the only thing that is true

I'd change myself to keep close to you

I can't stop time don't want to even try

Can't stop the way you catch my eye

Can't stop my heart wanting to melt

With yours in that way we both felt

Change seems a very powerful thing

Scary and yes a little bit frightening

Yet light that glows in my heart for you

Burns like a lighthouse bright and true

Doesn't change the path of the storm

Won't always keep you safe and warm

I'll forever hold it out for you to see

And still be true to my philosophy

I owe you a debt I can never repay

You loved me for me it blew me away

You said I was sane when I didn't know

At a time when vile cold wind did blow

I cannot change the times I have failed

Fell from a grace I previously held

Saw the disappointed hurt in your eye

I couldn't change it back or even try

I curse myself and loathe my own name

Nothing can ever make it the same

Change has played out another trick

Punched me in the gut made me sick

Change may win out if left without care

But I know our love will always be there

Friends before lovers gives us a rope

With change also comes love and hope
