Later that night, the two boys met up near the Eiffel tower as regular civilians for now. Adrien did become Cat Noir in order to get out of his house, but changed back just for him.
The moment they saw each other, they realized that neither one of them were as bright as they usually were. There was this aura around them that made it unlike either one of them. The usual peaceful and calming aura around Adrien, and the sweet and innocent aura from Hugo were replaced with a more serious vibe.
"Are you ready for this?" Adrien asked him, knowing this may be a little challenging for Hugo. He and Plagg were talking about it ealier in his room, and came up with the same conclusion. No matter how Hugo phrases this, Ladybug will not believe this right away to be true. After all, where was the proof? Adrien only believed him because certain things didn't add up, like how he figured out his real identity without seeing him transform. "Ladybug may not believe you right away so be patient, alright?"
Hugo nodded before looking up at Adrien. "Should I have told Emma I'm doing this? I feel bad for asking Luka to watch her all the time."
Adrien shook his head no. "No point in getting her upset if this doesn't work out, right? Besides, if it does work out, it'll be a nice surprise."
Hugo nodded at that before looking around, wanting to make sure they were alone. He then sighed before saying, "let's do this."
One at a time, the boys called their kwamis, transforming into their hero costumes before jumping above the buildings, heading towards the top of the effiel tower, awaiting their lady's presence. As soon as they reached a certain height, they stopped and took a seat on the beams.
Together, the two looked out onto the streets of Paris, watching as the citizens day was coming to an end. Families were heading home to prepare the young ones for bed, some were heading home for a well deserved rest after a day of work. Everyone had somewhere to be, all except one.
Hugo couldn't help but feel out of place in this Paris. He would never admit it to his little sister, who has slowly come to like this Paris, but he feels like he could never truly belong. At least, not just yet.
"Cat Noir, what if I fail?" Hugo couldn't help but ask the question that was burning in his mind. "What if I can't change anything?"
Cat Noir looked over at him with a kind smile before shaking his head no. "Don't think like that. If you give up now, the future you know is over. I know what you told me, and I want to do everything in my power to make sure it happens. I wouldn't mind a future with Ladybug, especially if you and your sister are our kids. I wouldn't have it any other way, so if it means doing something different to keep Lila from hurting you guys like she did, I'll do anything."
"I hate her. I know hate is a strong word, but I really don't like her. She never drops that innocent act, and when she gets older, she's even worse..." Hugo says as he looks away from his friend. "She still hates mom in the future for stealing you away from her, but everyone eventually keeps her away."
Adrien sighed before saying, "don't hate her. Lila isn't evil yet, and as heroes, we should try to save everyone. I know its impossible to save everyone all the time, but we should still try. The moment we give up on trying to save her, Lila would be lost to the darkness of her heart. "
Hugo listened silently, not even bothering to say a word before he notices a red figure in the distance, swinging around with the help of her yo-yo.
"Hey Kitty. And you were... Dragonfire, right?" Ladybug asked as she joined them. She kept a smile on her face as she settled on leaning against a beam, her eyes watching Dragonfire carefully. "When did you two get here?"
