Chapter 10: Winter Break

I was finally 13, thank god I'm a teenager. My parents were stress about that because they're worried about my teenage mood swings *rolls eyes*. I turned 13 on October 17, yes I'm a libra and we had a party with my whole family at my dad's restaurant.

My brothers allowed me to have a YouTube channel and I couldn't wait to get started on it with them. My parents were making me stay with Kevin for winter break, because they felt like I need to spend more time with him because I always spend more time with Joe and Nick. That was because Kevin never comes here, only Joe and Nick comes to visit us because Kevin excuse is being with his kids.

I arrived at the airport and was met with my brother Kevin, after I have texted him and my dad that I have landed. Kevin helped me get my bags and we went to his car.

I sigh and took out my phone and started messaging my friends from school, as Kevin drove us to his place.

Kevin: so... uh... how was your flight?
Melissa: fine

I said trying to ignore him even tho all he was trying to do was start a conversation with me.

Kevin: how is mom and dad doing?

Maybe if you have come over every once in a while, you would know that... but I'm not gonna say that because he is my brother after all and I don't want to hurt his feelings

Melissa: fine...

It was silence again until I heard Kevin sigh heavily and said.

Kevin: alright, I'm done with the one worded "fine" what's up with you? Mom and dad sent you here so we can hang out just the two of us, what's up?
Melissa: if you really wanted to hang out with me, why didn't you come to North Carolina yourself?
Kevin: Melissa, you know Dani and I have two kids now to lookout for. I can't just dropped everything and leave them to see my own family
Melissa: so you rather spend time with your family, then me?
Kevin: is that's what's this is about? You think I don't care enough to spend time with you?
Melissa: yeah, you never want to come visit anymore, and I assume it's because you hate me
Kevin: Melissa, I could never hate you, you may not be my blood sister, but you're my sister period
Melissa: I would hug you right now, but you're sort of driving and I don't want to die right now
Kevin: air hug?
Melissa: of course

Kevin and I air hug and he focused himself back on the road.

When we arrived at Kevin's place, Dani welcomed with with opened armed as well as Alena who jumped into my arms.

Alena: Aunt Mel! I miss you!
Melissa: I miss you too kiddo, now when was the last time I seen you?
Alena: Thanksgiving silly
Melissa: oh right
Alena: do you want to come to my play room, and play dress up?
Melissa: Alena, I'm in junior high. I don't do dresses up

Alena pulled her puppy dog face and I cursed myself for teaching her that and Kevin and Dani looked at us and I said to them.

Melissa: *nervous laugh* where does this kid learn this stuff?
Kevin: I don't know, maybe you?
Melissa: oh right, I taught her that my last visit... well first I got to put my stuff in my room and call mom and dad and let them know I'm here
Alena: I wanna speak to grandma and grandpa too!
Melissa: alright will go together

After Alena and I got off the phone with my parents, I picked her up and said.

Melissa: I wanna go see Valentina before we head downstairs
Alena: I think mommy put her down for a nap, so you have to hi to her later
Melissa: well alright
Alena: I'm so excited you're here Aunt Mel! Daddy said you're here for vacation
Melissa: yeah my whole winter break since the rest of the family will be down here for Christmas anyways, but I have to leave with them after New Years.
Alena: I wish you can stay with us in Jersey forever!
Melissa: hey when I go to college, I might go to university in Jersey and maybe Kevin will let me stay with you guys, how does that sound?
Alena: awesome! Maybe you can go to the college Aunt Katie is attending
Melissa: how does a 3 year old know more stuff then me?
Alena: *giggles* mommy said it's because I'm smart!
Melissa: that's right you're kiddo *kiss top of forehead* We are gonna have a fun spring break, I'm gonna feed you lots of sugar
Alena: yay!
Melissa: just don't tell your dad, he will kill me
Alena: okay!
Melissa: so your dad said you always wanted to do YouTube right?
Alena: yea...
Melissa: I'm gonna ask him if we can make a video of you doing my makeup
Alena: okay! Let's go!
