INT. HALLWAY - EVENING
Tom brought Claire on a small tour around the campus.
CLAIRE
So, I heard you have a pretty bad reputation around here.
TOM
(Grins)
For acting friendly with the students?
CLAIRE
(Rolled her eyes)
For being TOO friendly, I'm afraid.
TOM
(Sigh)
Believe it or not, that was a one time thing. Honestly speaking, I think I was really being quite an arse for behaving like that for the past few years. I wish I could just erase my history and start over.
CLAIRE
(Amazed by his words)
Oh, really? What made you changed your mind? Is it another woman?
TOM
(Pinches his nose bridge, looks down on the ground and smile)
She's ah.... I can't explain her effect on me but she's special. Like, I wanted to treat her right, type of special.
CLAIRE
(Interested to find out more)
Ahh.. I see. So how is it going? Are you seeing her now or?
TOM
(Sighs)
The woman I'm currently after is the most difficult woman I've ever pursued.
CLAIRE
(Feels bad for Tom but jokes)
Even more difficult than me, huh? I'm curious about this woman now.
TOM
(Slightly awkward)
Um... Claire? Do you still feel....
CLAIRE
(Laughs)
Do I still feel a thing about you? It has been years, Tom. Since we last met, last talked, last.... I don't know? Loved each other? I think we're long over it right? I really came back for the job and not you, if that's what you're thinking.
TOM
(Relieved)
Just wanted to make things clear. As the youngsters would say, we cool?
CLAIRE
(Chuckles)
Yeah, we cool.
They continued walking back to the building in silence.
When they arrived the building entrance,
Tom holds the door for Claire.
Claire stopped and looked at him.
CLAIRE
I'm just curious, is the woman that you're currently after another student of yours or a colleague?
TOM
(Looks away and motioned her to get in)
What makes you think that she's on the campus as well? Can I not date someone outside of the campus?
CLAIRE
(Shrugs and walk into the building)
Just a wild guess.
TOM
(Runs fingers through his hair)
You'll see.
CLAIRE
(Mouth turns into an O shape)
Oooooh, so she's really here. But as a student or?
TOM
(Laughs)
I've said enough about me today. I'd like to know how have you been to.
CLAIRE
(Narrowed her eyes at him)
I know you're changing the topic but I'll let it go this time. I have all the time in the world to find out about her. Anyway, I...
(Pause for a brief moment)
I've been married. And divorced. Also another reason why I came back for the job.
