Rian is already calling Zack by the time he comprehends the situation.

Jack is weakly trying time push Alex off him, but to no avail. Alex is too strong and Jack is too far out of it.

"Hey this is Zack!"
"Alex just turned," Rian says frantically into his cell phone.
"Oh, that's great. So the worst if over now and-"
"No, Zack, he turned while I was at the pet store! He bit Jack!"

The line is quiet for a second.
Rian can hear some shuffling on Zack's end, and the flipping of pages.

"Alex should regain control any second. As soon as he does, he needs to bite into his own wrist. There's a major artery there."
"Why's he need to do that?"
"Because his options are to turn Jack into a vampire as well, or let him die."

Rian stares at the scene in front of him in horror until suddenly Alex pulls away from Jack.
Alex lets out a horrified scream once he's seen what he's done. Then he see Rian. "Oh my god, Ri, please- I-I didn't mean to- I- I lost control and I-"
"Alex, I need you to bite into your wrist."
"What?"
"Now!"

Alex does as he's told and sinks his fangs into his own skin. Deep crimson flows from his pale, tattooed arm and onto Jack's shirt where Jack's own blood is pooling. The sticky red substance is staining everything it touches with scarlet, making the room look like a crime scene.

Then again, isn't that what this is?

"Alex needs to help Jack drinks Alex's blood so that he'll turn. In a few days. He has to do it fast too or it'll be too late."

Alex holds back sobs as Rian helps him to support Jack's head. He doesn't want this stupid curse on Jack, Alex doesn't even know how it affects him yet besides the fact that he's been sick the last few days.
But he holds his bleeding wrist up to Jack's mouth and allows a half conscious Jack to drink from him.

He only pulls his arm away when he starts to feel light headed.
Jack passes out on the couch soon after leaving the room in near silence.

"Rian, I-" Alex starts.
Rian shakes his head to stop him. "I know. It's okay."
"No it's not!" Alex argues. "Jack's not okay! The next week is going to be hell for him!"

"Let's just get him cleaned up, okay?"

Alex hesitates before he nods. Then he helps Rian carry Jack into the bathroom.

They have to clear the tub of blankets before they can turn on the faucet, but it doesn't take long.

"Rian, you should go home," Alex says. "You've been here for a week. You should get some rest."
Rian shakes his head. "You guys are like family to me. I'll be here until you two are settled."
"I'm already settled, Ri. It's been a long couple of days and I feel like shit and we're all tired. You should go home and get some sleep. You can come back in the morning when you're better rested."
Rian hesitates for a moment before nodding. "Be careful okay? Call me or Zack if you need anything." He pauses. "Actually, call Zack. He'll be more helpful."

Alex watches Rian leave the bathroom and then sighs. He waits for the tub to then fill with water and then turns off the faucet before looking back to see his unconscious roommate slumped over next to the tub.

"God, I'm such an asshole," Alex mutters under his breath as he kneels down to pull Jack's shirt off of him.

The material sticks to the bloody mess leaking from his neck, but otherwise pulls off easily. This is too much of a hassle for just friends, or so Alex thinks, but Jack did the same for him.

Once in the water, the crimson liquid leaking from the wound in Jack's neck begins turning the water pink, making Alex feel sick to his stomach.
This is all his fault. He should have been paying closer attention to his own needs. He should have know this would happen.
But now...
Now Jack is hurt and it's all Alex's fault.

"I'm so sorry," Alex cries as he uses a wash cloth to wipe away blood. "I didn't want this to happen. I didn't think it would but it did and now... fuck, Jack I'm so sorry!"
Jack is out cold and therefore doesn't respond, but Alex continues muttering apologies as he cleans up the bite and the area around it.

Then he drains the water in the tub and leaves to find Jack something clean to wear and returns with a pair of flannel pajama pants.

Sure, getting Jack into them is awkward as all hell, but Alex doesn't want to be a dick, he's already an asshole.

Alex then carries Jack to his room and then frowns when he notices Jack's bed is neatly made.
Jack never makes his bed unless he's planning to go somewhere like on a tour or something. He claims it's a waste of time since he's just going to sleep in it again anyway.

Jack didn't seem to have plans of going anywhere, but maybe he just knew he wasn't going to sleep here for a few days.

Alex remembers waking up in the middle of the night to find Jack asleep on the bathroom floor and then feels his heart break.
Alex doesn't deserve Jack. He really, really doesn't.

Alex sets Jack on the bed and is about to leave when something, or rather someone, tugs at his arm. He turns around to find Jack, with his eyes barely open, holding Alex's wrist where the bite mark had been before it healed shortly after the incident.
"Stay?" Jack barely whispers into the darkness of his room. "Please?"
Alex looks at his blood stained clothes and arm, then out of Jack's open bedroom door and into the bathroom where the shower is, only to turn back to see his very exhausted roommate asking him to stay with him.
Alex didn't need much convincing, even if he was covered in blood. He was just as exhausted as Jack and Jack smelled nice anyway.

"Okay," Alex says softly, climbing into bed with Jack.

He'd dreamed of this sort of thing since high school, but never like this. Never in this way.

Jack was already out cold by the time Alex had even managed to get under the covers. Alex smiles at Jack, almost sadly.

"I love you," Alex whispers to a sleeping man who can't hear him. "Goodnight."
