Three days.
Jack's been asleep for three fucking days.

Alex has been drinking synthetic blood packets brought by Zack. Supposedly they're full of the stuff vampires need, but without having to actually hurt anyone.
Rian and Zack have stopped by every day to make sure Jack isn't just dead. He's still alive, thank god. The whole thing is a nightmare.

But Alex almost cheers when Jack finally walks out of his room, looking dazed and hungover.

"Jack! Hey, how are you feeling?" Alex asks, ignoring Jack's obvious cringe.
"What happened last night?" Jack groans. "How much did I drink?"

Alex doesn't really remember anything after he got bit, and he knows Jack won't remember any of this either.

"I don't know," Alex says. "Are you hungry? You should eat something. I can make something if you want. What are you hungry for?"
"A nap," Jack responds, making his way to the couch. "Fuck, my head hurts."
Alex isn't sure he should make Jack eat something or not. He should call Zack.

"Do we have any pain meds left?" Jack asks. "I haven't gotten a hangover like this in months."
"No," Alex lies. "Sorry, I looked for them this morning."
Jack curses under his breath. "You must have been taking them like candy or some shit while you were turning, Jesus." He mutters. "There was still half a bottle left, I thought."
Alex shrugs. "Do you want any coffee? Water? Anything?"
"I'm okay," Jack says with a yawn. "I think I'm just-" Jack freezes.

"Jack?"

Alex doesn't get a response. Instead, Jack pushes himself off the couch and runs to the bathroom. Alex cringes at the retching  sound from down the hall.

"And so it begins," he mutters.

Alex makes his way to the shared bathroom and watches sadly as Jack spills the contents of his stomach into the toilet. Jack's going to catch on soon, and Alex knows it. But he's also not going to remember the night he was bit, or the first few days that follow.

Jack is going to be pissed when he realizes... And the fact that Alex hasn't even told him...
Alex feels like he might be sick as well. All the guilt just keeps pooling up in his stomach, he's almost surprised it hasn't risen up and into his throat.

Jack moves to lean against the wall after flushing the toilet. He looks half dead. He might as well be.

Then he catches sight of Alex leaning against the doorframe.
Jack blinks a few times as it hits him. His fingers shake as he reaches up towards the scabbed over bite. Alex feels his heart drop into his stomach as Jack's eyes grow to the size of saucers.

"D-did you-"
"Jack-"
"You- Y-you-"
"Jack, I'm sorry! I lost control and I-"
Jack almost looks like he's trying to faze through the wall. "I'm- I- but-" he looks at Alex for along time, but Alex feels more like Jack is looking through him. Alex takes a step forward. "No!" Jack shouts, holding his hands out in front of himself protectively. "Please don't."
"Jack, I'm not-"
"Please!"
Alex backs off. "I'll call Rian," he says. "Okay?"
Jack nods, looking at the tiled floor with a distant expression.
Alex watches him for a second before making his way to his room where he last saw his cell phone.

"He's awake? That's great!"
"He's mad at me, Ri." Alex says into his cell phone. "I don't blame him. I'd be pissed too."
"It's not your fault, Lex. Zack and I will head over soon, okay? We'll talk to him for you."
"You don't have to do that. Someone just needs to make sure he's not, like, dying."
"We'll see you in a few minutes, Lex."
"Thanks Rian." Alex hangs up the phone and then sits down on his bed. He knew being Jack's roommate was a bad idea from the start, but he couldn't say no to his best friend. He's in love with this idiot, and he's fucked it all up.
