The smell of rat feces is burning Alex's nostrils as he tries to focus on anything other than the stinging pain in his wrists. Handcuffs are not fun, especially not when they're made of what is essentially kryptonite to vampires.

Alex has been feeling dizzy and tired since Brendon locked him in here, and he doesn't even know how long it's been. All Alex really knows his he's thirsty and if he doesn't drink something soon...

He tries to stray away from that idea, but it's nearly damn impossible when he feels so light headed and desperate for blood.

This whole place is a nightmare. It's cold, and dark and the stone floor and walls are hardly comfortable. There's also water dripping mysteriously from above and pooling out of a bucket and onto the floor, dampening Alex's skinny jeans.

There's a dead rat on the floor and the dried blood around it is causing Alex to lose a little bit of control.

He's just so thirsty....

This is the longest car ride of Jack's life.

He's anxious and terrified of what he'll find when they arrive. Rian says they're almost there, but Jack isn't sure he's ready.

What if they don't find Alex? What if he's dead? Or worse? What would Jack even say? What if Brendon kills them all?

Alex loves Jack. That's a fact that's been further proven by the fact Jack's name is his computer's security question, Alex never changed the computer home screen Jack set as a prank, and Jack got a text saying Alex loves him.

What the fuck does Jack say to that?

It's not that Jack doesn't feel the same way, he does. He really does. But.... but what if they end up in a relationship that goes to shit and ruin their careers and their friendship?
What if... what if Alex isn't even-

"We're here," Ryan announces from the drivers seat. He puts the car in park and then everyone gets out.

"Zack, you disable the security system while Rian keeps watch. Jack, you and I'll wait here until Zack comes back."

Jack nods, trying to ignore the anxiety induced nausea that's overcome him. That doesn't go well though, because Jack finds himself spilling the contents of his stomach a few minutes after Zack and Rian leave.

Ryan R. smiles at Jack sympathetically. "Everything's going to be fine," Ryan assures him. "Just relax."
Jack nods before retching onto the grass again.

Zack comes running up to them and then Ryan unlocks the front gate. "Here's the keys to the lake house and catacombs. I'll check the towers." Ryan looks at them both one last time. "Good luck."

They watch the vampire transform into a bat and fly into the night sky and then take off running to the brick house next to the lake.

Their footsteps ring out through the courtyard, but only until the pitter-patter of run begins to drown out the sound.

Jack and Zack take forever trying to unlock the twelve different locks on the cottage door, and then they make their way through the building and I not the catacombs.

The stone walls are dimly lit by the light of Zack's phone camera, but Jack can see just find given his new night vision. Maybe being a vampire isn't so bad.

They seem to be making good process until they reach an intersection. Jack cursed under his breath while Zack thinks for a long time.

"Can you like... sense him?" Zack asks, trying to explain something he once read in a book.
"Who? Alex?" Jack asks. "What do you mean?"
"Well," Zack explains, "he turned you, so shouldn't you be able to sense when he's nearby?"
"That sounds stupid."
"Close your eyes and focus on him."

Jack rolls his eyes, but does as he's told.

In his mind, Jack pictures Alex. The first day they met, the first concert they went to together. He thinks of their first show, Alex's smile, the sadness he felt when a close family member passed, the anxiety that overtook him during sets.
Jack thinks of that time they went skinny dipping in the neighbors pool while they were away, and how Alex cringed when the water was cold. He remembers watching movies together and the times Alex pretended to not be sick.

Something tugs at Jack's heart. They make a right,

As Jack remembers all the good and bad moments with his best friend, they make their way through the catacombs. Jack's eyes are closed as they walk slowly through the dark.
He pictures Alex's face just before he turned Jack. Jack isn't even sure how he suddenly remembered that.
He sees faded images of Alex alone in their living room.

And then Jack sees himself lying unconscious in his own bed, and he realizes these are Alex's memories.

As they grow nearer, Jack imagines a text conversation and then he sees a bar and Brendon.

The next scenes get blurry, but it's not hard to make out Alex looking lost while Brendon fucks him in the backseat of the car.

Jack feels tears brimming in his eyes as the memories become clearer.

He sees Brendon handcuff Alex to the seat of the car, and then the room Alex had been locked in.
He sees trust building and then falling apart. And then they're stopped in front of a set of bars.

Jack opens his eyes to find himself crying as he stares at the scene in front of him.

Alex has gone back to that dark form Jack had seen when he turned, and his arms are cuffed and chained to the stone wall behind him.
Jack swears he hears Zack gasp, but all Jack can do is cry.

He can't tear his eyes away as he sobs, letting Zack do the work of finding something for Alex go drink.

The cell is miserable, and Alex's corpse-like form may be dangerous, but Jack can't help but pity him. If Jack could take back all of the things he said when he returned to consciousness. He would. He really would.

Zack returns with a squealing rat that he gives to Jack. "You have to go in there and help him because he'll turn me if I do it.
Jack nods, letting Zack take the keys and open the cell.

The rat squirms and squeaks in his hand and Alex practically growls at Jack as he walks closer. But Jack kneels down and holds the rat up so Alex can see it. "Drink," he says softly. "Please."

Alex seems dead to the world as his blank eyes scan over Jack's. Then he leans forward a bit to bite into the small creature in Jack's hands.

The creature goes limp shortly after and color slowly returns to Alex's skin.

Alex blinks for a moment.

"Jack?" He sounds groggy, as if just waking up from a nap.
"Hey, Lex."
