11. Marry?!

We were about to head over but stopped when a sparrow came at us in a panic.
I held my hand out which the sparrow landing chuing at us.
I didn't understand so I looked at Tanjiro.
Tanjiro narrowed his eyes and nodded agreeing with the sparrow.
He can understand it?
Meanwhile I listened to the boy bugging the girl.

" please! You're all I have!"

I sighed.

" I see... I'll do something about it!"

I looked at Tanjiro with shock.
The sparrow instantly became relieved and looked at Tanjiro with hope.
Tanjiro still holding my hand dragged us over to the boy.

" please help me! Please marry me!"

Tanjiro let go of my hand and pulled the boy off the girl.

" what do you think you're doing in the middle of the road!? Can't you see she's not interested!"

The boy looked up at Tanjiro with tears in his eyes.
I sighed and said.

" seriously, what do you think you're doing... you're  only causing trouble for your sparrow and this young lady..."

I sighed while I crossed my arms.
He looked at both of us and said.

" those uniforms... wait! You're those two from the final selection!"

My eyes widened a bit and I realized I have seen this man.
Tanjiro on the other hand.

" no one I know is anything like you! I don't know you!"

" but we met, remember?! You're the one with the problem! Like your memory!"

Tanjiro didn't get it and pointed at me.

" no! She had problems with her memories!"

I sighed and held Tanjiros shoulder.

" Tanjiro... no remember the scared yellow haired kid with the sparrow... just think about it..."

Tanjiro didn't say anything but just dropped the boy.

" you can head home now without worries.."

Tanjiro said kindly to the girl.

" I will! Thank you very much!"

The girl bowed grateful to him.

" hey! Stay out of the way! That girl is going to marry me! Because she's in love with me, all ri—"

I watched as the girl slapped the boy.
My eyes widened as Tanjiro watched not knowing what to do.
She just kept slapping him.

" h-hey, calm down!"

I felt bad so I bent down to the now beaten up kid while Tanjiro held back the angry girl.

" when did I ever tell you that I loved you!? You were crumpled up on the side of the road looking ill, and all I did was talk to you!"

The boy i was comforting was now holding onto my arm in shock while crying.

" you mean you didn't reach out to me out of love because you were worried?!"
