The ride home was a silent one. After saying goodbye to Professor Cavanagh, the women Camila had been chatting with and Lauren's colleagues, Lauren and Camila walked wordlessly to her black Chrysler 300 where her driver, Nick was waiting at the curb of the street. Camila couldn't bring herself to look at Lauren's eyes, keeping her stare on the floor. She noticed from her peripheral vision that Lauren was not looking at her either, avoiding her eyes as the raven haired girl kept her gaze straight ahead of her. Once the two reached the car, Nick opened the door for Camila and she slid inside, placing herself as close to the door as possible followed by Lauren who Camila noticed that her posture was incredibly stiff.
When Lauren settled inside, Camila smelled her overbearing scent as it seemed to waft over to her. A blush dusted her cheeks as the scent caused her to instantly remember Lauren being pressed tightly against her, kissing her so fervently which makes her lips throbbed just thinking about it. Camila brought a steady hand to her mouth, oblivious that Lauren watched her do so with darkened eyes. The power, the hunger in Lauren's kiss left the brunette's heart racing merely thinking about it. Lauren forced her eyes away, inwardly cursing at herself. How could she lose her self-control like that? Camila's lips, her smooth skin... they tasted delicious and Lauren found herself craving for more. She clenched her fist tightly at her side. She could not begin to imagine what was running through the younger girl's mind, what impression she had of the raven haired girl when Lauren left her wordlessly in the courtyard.
"Miss Lauren... was that just for the camera?"
It had taken a moment for Camila's question to process in Lauren's mind. She had been too busy staring at the brunette ruffled hair, her flushed cheeks, her parted pink lips and her heaving chest. When it finally did occur to Lauren what the younger girl had said, Lauren's brain was racing for an answer. Seeing Camila with another man gave Lauren the carnal desire to claim her. Despite the fact that the public already considered them together, privately they were merely business associates. Lauren had not considered for a moment what Camila's feelings were towards her but remembering the hands in her raven hair and underneath her shirt confirmed the brunette had felt something too.
Lauren had never anticipated someone watching them but on the other hand, she was too consumed with the younger girl to notice anything else. The raven haired girl had left Camila in silence because not even she could explain what had happened, what had suddenly came over her to kiss the younger girl, taste her, touch her. Lauren inwardly cursed. Her thoughts were sending blood rushing to her side. This was not like her. She was a woman of self-control. She always had control of her basic instincts, of her primal urges. She lifted her hand and pinched the bridge of her nose, closing her eyes. She had crossed a line. Where they would go from there she could not predict.
"Miss Lauren?"
The voice immediately drew Lauren out of her thoughts. She looked to her right, seeing the car door open and Nick staring questioningly at her.
"We're here, Miss Lauren." The driver announced to Lauren.
Lauren looked to her left, seeing the seat where Camila had been now empty. Lifting her gaze, she barely caught a glimpse of Camila as she scurried inside, her long wavy brown hair flying back behind her as she closed the front door behind her.
"Tag! You're it!"
The sound of a little girl's laughter echoed throughout the open field, unrestrained by the border of trees thick with leaves. Lauren stumbled back a few steps from her "tag", watching the girl dash away from Lauren. Her long, brunette hair tied in a high ponytail flailed behind her as she ran.
"You'll have to hurry if you want to catch me!" She shouted, giggling once more as she scampered even quicker, sprinting without a care in the world.
