Absence from whom we love is worse than death, and frustrates hope severer than despair

Hushed voice broke my slumber

Hushed voice broke my slumber. Opening my eyes, I winched. The light was too bright. I blinked couple of times to clear my view. Looking up at the ceiling, I noticed it was deep olive colour which was no where near our cream colour ceiling.

Wait a minute, this wasn’t my room. Then I also noticed the faint voice I heard before stopped completely and I was lying on a strange bed. I screamed at the top of my lungs seeing those kidnappers were here too.

Without delaying, I started throwing some papers, pens and even a water bottle at them. Oh God, oh God, oh God!!!! they really kidnapped me. What should I do?

Still screaming I jumped standing on the bed. They stepped back a little like they were scared of me? Raising  hands, they showed it was empty. As if that was gonna give me reassurance.

"Ooo...calm down. We are not gonna hurt you". Yeah, like I was going to fall for that.

"Why did you bring me here? Let me go, please. I won’t tell anybody, I swear", I pleaded.

"We aren’t kidnappers. You are safe here. Nobody is going to hurt you, okay?", the green-eyed man said.

It was the first time he talked to me with such a sincere tone. I didn’t know why, hearing him say that made me calm. But that didn’t give me the answer why I woke up here.

I carefully sat on the side of the bed which was far from these men. I stared at them waiting for to say something. But they stared at me back.

The taller 'fake' agent cleared his throat and gestured the other one to say something. So he began saying,

"Um....we didn’t kidnap you".

I waited for him to complete.

"We....uh....we aren’t gonna hurt you".

He said that before so I waited for more.

"We are brothers actually", he smiled big like he was actually proud of himself completing a sentence without shuttering.

It was funny to watch him fumbling with words. And in any other circumstances, I would definitely laugh out loud but sadly my situation here wasn’t something to joke with.

The taller one sighed loudly as if he was finally annoyed with his brother's behavior.

Yeah, at this point I was pretty sure that whatever they were, they couldn’t be kidnappers or bad guys. Cause if I had say in this, I would totally vote for man-size children.

So the long hair brother took the matter himself and said,

"My name is Sam. This is my brother Dean. I guess, you already figured out we're not FBI's".

I hesitantly nodded.

"I know you are really confuse right now but believe us, we really didn’t mean to scare you or anything".

"You followed me", I stated.

"Yeah, we did", he was looking a little uncomfortable.

"But we didn’t have any bad intention", other one quickly added.

"Then why you guys did that? You also lied to me and my teachers", I said.

"We didn’t have a choice", the man whose name was Dean said with a sad expression.

I was totally clueless now. What they were talking about. Why they had to have a choice in the first place? I didn’t even know these men.

I guessed, they noticed my confused  state. So Sam continued,

"This doesn’t make any sense, does it?"

"No, I mean I still can't get why you guys have to fake your identity to see me. I don’t even know you".

"Yeah, about that....you may not know us but we....kinda know you", he skeptically said.

"You know me? How?",I wondered what they were hinting at.

He looked at Dean who was all tensed up. After having some sort of secret conversation with their eyes, Dean finally began to talk.

"I knew your mother".

And that moment, I truly realised how a single sentence could held so much meaning. But still I waited with a pounding heart for him to confirm.

"I was with my father when we were just passing the town she used to live. Didn’t have a plan to stay there but we did anyway", he said.

"And there I met her", he smiled softly before continuing. "That time, I was angry at my father, she was angry at her parents. So we just clicked you know. We talked a lot, mostly rubbish but the time I stayed there, she made it bearable".

We all were quite. And for unknown reason, my eyes watered.

"My family....we never used to stay at the same place. So after couple of weeks, we moved again", he sighed.

I knew what he was talking about. So I asked in a low voice, "You didn’t know, did you?".

"No, I never saw or heard from her ever again", he admitted.

"Then how come you are here?"

"I just learnt a few of weeks ago. A....friend told me", he slowly said.

"Why did you lie then? You could've told me the truth", I asked. Oh God, my voice sounded so broken.

He didn’t replied. Neither of them did. So I asked again,

"If you didn’t slip up, would you even tell me?"

"I'm sorry", he sounded genuinely hurt but that didn’t matter to me then.

"You were planing to go away like it means nothing? How could you do that? If you didn’t want to know me why bother to come?"

Again silence was the only thing filled the room. So it fueled my anger more. I was practically shouting at this point.

"Do you know how I could give up everything to see my mom's face again? And having a chance, a chance to get to know your family, YOU WERE GONNA GIVE UP LIKE THAT!!"

Keeping all these from a long time and learning that he was going to just left me here without telling triggered something in me. So I finally admitted what I was most afraid of.

"I don’t have anything of her not even a picture. I think...I think I am forgetting her. What should I do? I can't forget my own mother. She....."

I couldn’t finish the sentence before strong hands wrapped tightly around me. So tight it was hard to breath. But I welcomed the pain. I would welcome anything if these hands could hold me the rest of my life.

I cried and cried. Didn’t know how many times had passed? Minutes, hours or days? From far away, I heard a voice. A very soothing voice telling me everything was going to be all right, now that he got me.

And somehow in my hysterical state I knew, I knew everything would really be okay. Cause I have him now. My.......
