Chapter Fifteen
~Eyes in the skies~

Your eyes shot open when James plopped himself on the ground. He made a fire and heated the meat off an animal's bones.

"Here".

James handed you some food, it was so good.
Your stomach whined all day and night for just something to fall in it.

Earlier during the day you attempted to eat a shiny, red berry, it was big and looked juicy. But James quickly slapped it out of your hand before you could eat it.
He told you it was poisonous!
Once again, the Winter Soldier saved your life.

"Isn't it bad that we have a fire going? Especially when we're on the run".

"I'm pretty sure they're far away from us".

James went on, lending you more food.

"Good thing you had some sleep because we're leaving when we're done".

"Ugh, don't you ever sleep?"

Seriously, though. He's never even sat down for a little nap the whole time we were together!

"Too much energy".

James said as shaking his head.

"I think I'm different from everyone else".

He commented, his tongue cleaning his teeth before he continued.

"Seriously though; I've got more stamina than the others. I'm the strongest too, not muscle-wise, but I can take a hit".

"The one thing that confuses me is that you don't even know why".

"All I know is what I know now, Y/N. I'm still trying to figure myself out.....I learnt that I didn't even know my name until you asked me. Since we first saw each other, I realised where I really was and what I was actually about to do.....So, I think HYDRA takes something from me".

"Like........memories?"

"It sucks to think that, but.....yeah".

Woah. This is deep.
Say something Y/N. He's life sucks, try to give him advice.

"I'm still learning about myself as well, James. I didn't know I could do a lot of things until recently. I learnt the other day that my claws are bullet-proof. Also, people keep telling me I'm not aware of how capable I really am. Even though I should know....I just don't. And it's frustrating".

Got carried away there. It's not about you, Y/N.

"It's ok, James. I know what it feels like. I know memories weren't taken form me, but I still know what not knowing about yourself feels like".

"Man, why do I have this feeling to go to HYDRA now. I should want to run from them, right?"

"It's because you want answers".

Which makes me think;

"Can you tell me why HYDRA wanted me dead? I got some unanswered questions as well".

"We've already had this conversation; I'm told my mission. I do it. Come back and then I get assigned to a new mission again. I'm told nothing, and I never wandered why. I never cared".

"Assigned to a mission?"

You questioned.

"I take care of the things they can't handle.....at least that's what it looks like. Since I got some - and I'm not trying to be full of myself here - but I got some super-strength and stamina, it makes sense they'd want me to do their dirty work. What can I say? I got some skill".

"I dodged a bullet from you when you tried shooting me at the crash-sight".

"That was luck. It was from a tree".

"I might have superpowers, now that I come to think of it. Plus, you never know".

"I don't think you'd know either".

You started to think about Odin, you remembered that you never really got to share with anyone the adventures and beauties of outer space.

Oh, how much you just wanted to tell stories about what you've been through. Not this, for it would bring back traumatic feelings, but even what you experienced on the hill. It was something you never forgot!

But you doubted James would believe you.

You both headed out that night and walked through the lands, travelling up mountains until the morning sun rose.

There, you learnt that HYDRA's eyes in the skies finally came. Choppers, machine tanks, scouts and teams spread across the woodlands.

"They're gonna keep spreading, you know".

James mentioned as you both ducked down for cover.

"We gotta be more quick and silent....It's gonna get harder to keep running".
