Chapter Sixteen
~All we know is to run~

Your POV:
It's been two weeks and I'm finally able to run beside James.
And that's all we've been doing; running.

HYDRA's getting closer, everyday we've been hearing a chopper in the sky from a distance.
We'd duck, get back up, run, duck, get back up, run and so on and so on.

Teams are among the same lands as we are, James had to take out 20 men. I know this because I'm counting.
He's taken out 5 snipers, one shot at us but missed way off. He took out a whole team as well.
I'm not boasting about him. This isn't good. HYDRA is getting closer and it feels like sometimes we're just getting nowhere!

Sometimes I feel like it's because of me that HYDRA caught up with us.
All we do is run, quickly eat what we can in the little time we have then go back to running. It's repetitive. It's exhausting.
Nothing is changing...

In safe times we rarely got, I managed to crack a joke or say something without us getting caught.

I learnt a lot about the Winter Soldier; he looks really tough and hard. But he's actually soft and pretty smart. Sometimes he smiles, but he never laughs. He never really tells jokes, but his attitude and responses make a lot of situations funny.
Like the time when we had to be still and silent while he waited for game to come along, it was pretty funny how he got frustrated with me.

When I first started moving my leg around without any problems at all, I asked James to teach me how to fight.

So he taught me some moves for defence but told me he hopes I shouldn't have to use them.
I guess he looked at this as a quest to return me back home, traumatised-free.

One time he held his flat palms out, I knew it meant that he wanted me to practice punching and using my strength in that area.
I got a little carried away and ended up kicking him where no man likes to be kicked.

He put his thumbs up, groaning and barely managed to say "good job".

James is sweet. He would put himself in front of me sometimes when he felt cautious when we snuck around HYDRA's men.

Most of the time he made sure I was by his side, maybe because I'd get distracted and try and figure out things myself. But I would like to think he does that because he's protective.

It's nice to think that you have a protector especially when you're running from people who want you both dead.

We didn't know if HYDRA knew that he was alive, or if he was running with me, or if he was killing HYDRA's men!

We didn't know anything but to run and stay alive.
