Chapter Seventeen
~Yay! Civilisation!~Since then, a week has gone by and nothing changed. Their legs aches everyday, their bones nearly shattering from the amount of running they had done.
This day, it's been fours of non-stop running.
Four hours ago James had to take down a couple of men when they caught you two resting in the river's water.
You were so relaxed in the cold, nice waters of the wilderness. Your wound was a thick short line that was covered by a strong layer of scabby skin protecting it from breaking apart.
You lay there, floating on your back, not caring that your only clothes are getting soaked.
Suddenly, you were then snatched out of the waters and dragged to the river banks.
That's all you could recall before you two started the biggest and longest, most toughest and exhausting, run of your lives!
••
"James".
You barely said through heavy panting.
"James!"
"What!?"
"We need to stop. I don't have that much energy OR stamina in me to keep going!"
So with that, your run ended.
The clouds begun to darken, thunder and lightening in the distance.
Soon, fat drops of rain fell from the skies and collided with the Earth around you.You two replaced running with walking, struggling to catch your breath peacefully.
••
"I think people are close by".
You commented.
"Why do you say that?"
"Look. Paths and vehicle tracks. Also some crops".
Clearly James was tired, it's the first time you saw him like this.
Something's wrong? Why is he so unaware of his own surroundings? Usually he's the one who points that stuff out."You're right.....look".
Finally! Civilisation, you and James encountered.
You looked in the far distance to see old brick buildings and huts. The smoke indicated that this village was active right now.
"Yay! I was right! Let's go!"
James stayed slow behind as you ran toward the village.
He kept his gun close to himself as you two walked through the village together.
They gazed up at you both as you walked passed the markets. You knew everyone else was frightened of James, his metal arm glistening with dots of rain on it, and his big gun flashing in their faces!
Ugh.You explored the place. You hadn't been in this type of environment before
and it was quite exiting.Your eyes caught the sighting of a green dress that was secure, with buttons running down the centre of the whole dress.
As if he was angry, James snatched it, flashing his gun and weapons on his belt to the market owner, and tossed the dress to you.
"She needs somewhere to dress".
He told the lady who owned the clothes she displayed.
He didn't even care if she could understand him."James stop. That was so rude".
"You want it or not?"
With all the guilt and sorrow you had inside, you ended up taking the dress. But you snuck some bread from James, in which he in no doubt snatched from some poor market owner, and you gave it to the lady.
You revealed yourself to James after putting the dress on and swirled around in it.
He had no pleasant reaction to your new clothes. James rolled his eyes and sauntered off.The dress was loose and the fabric was strong, not easy to tear. Also, it came up to the middle of your thighs, it was quite tight around your chest and waist, but it worked better than what you had last time; a leotard and large fabric from a crashed Jet.
He's just jealous that I'm the one with new clothes.
You told yourself as following his grumpy, moody self."Wait you!"
You called as running to him to catch up.
Ugh! I don't miss this.....running!
