You rolled over and shut the alarm off on your phone.

You cleared your throat, bothered by how itchy it felt.

𝑂ℎ 𝑔𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑡
Your head was pounding.

You couldn't afford to take time off of work for a sick day, but there was no way you'd be able to concentrate with this.

You ended up calling in and letting them know that you wouldn't make it.

Luckily for you, they allowed it.

Your phone began to ring.

"Hey"
You answered.

"Hey babe"
Corbin responded.

"What's up?"
You rubbed your eyes and yawned.

"I uh. I have to stay a little longer than I expected.. they added a few days to the conference.. just some extra courses"

You sighed.
"Oh.. I was excited for you to come home"

"I know babe. I'll be home soon though.. have a good day at work"

"Okay.."
His call was so short.
You didn't bother telling him that you weren't feeling well.

Worry filled you as you hung up the phone.

Corbin had done this once before.
Recently in fact.
While he was gone the first time, a woman had messaged you.
She told you of how herself and Corbin were romantically involved.

When he came home, he denied it, and denied ever knowing her.

You still had no proof of it happening. Many of the women at work were after him and jealous of your relationship.

There was still apart of you that doubted if he was telling you the truth.
You tried not to let how other men have treated you in the past effect how you thought of him.
Sometimes it got to you though.

You began to think about last night.
Running into Mingi at that party.
It wasn't that big of a surprise that he'd be there.
It was a party after all.

But he did seem different.
He didn't have a cup of booze in hand, which he always would.

Maybe he actually took what you said into consideration.

You picked up your phone to call him, but it went to voicemail after a few rings.

Part of you felt embarrassed.
What would he think of you calling him.

Before you could put your phone down, he was calling you back.

"Hey sorry, I was in the kitchen"
He answered.

"It's okay"

"I'm surprised you called me honestly"

"Well.. wasn't that the point of you getting my number again? To keep in touch"
You asked.

"Of course, but I just saw you last night"
He laughed.

"Sorry.."

"I'm just messing with you. It's okay"
He reassured.

"What are you doing in the kitchen?"
You meddled, knowing he could cook.

"I was making myself breakfast"

"This early? It's barely even six"
You spoke, looking at the clock.

"Yet you called me. This early."

"What did you make?"
You asked curiously, pushing aside his comment.

"Nothing too fancy, just an egg sandwich"

"It sounds good. You cook better than me"

He laughed into the phone.
"Everyone knows I do"

You laughed along with him.
"Do you work today?"

"I do"
He answered.

"What time do you get off"

"Ah..."
His voice drifted off for a moment.

"Today I get off earlier than I normally would. I get off at one.

"Ohh okay"

"Why?"
He asked.

"I'm not working today. Woke up feeling pretty shitty"
You explained.

"You sick?"

"Not sick, I just have a really bad headache.. I think it's from being out late last night.."

"Should have went to bed at a decent time"

"I agree.. I'll keep that into consideration"
You said.

"Well I should probably go"

"Can I come over later? When you're home"

"Uhh.. not sure your boyfriend would be too happy about that"
He quoted you from last night.

"He's allowed to have friends that are girls.. I can be friends with you. I've known you since forever. Besides, I'll tell him that I'm going to your house"

"Hmmm sounds risky"

"You can say no"
You said.

"No no it's fine with me. Just make sure you tell your homeboy"

You rolled your eyes at his silliness.
"I will. I'll be over at like three, if that's okay."

"That's fine"
