Synopsis :

Gongsun Li is the granddaughter and disciple of military commander Gongsun Yu. When she was young, she met and rescued , who then fell in love with her at first sight. When the Qin troops were attacked, Gongsun Li's childhood lover, Jing Ke was poisoned while protecting her. In order to attain the antidote for , Gongsun Li agreed to marry Ying Zheng. However, she found out that she was already pregnant with Jing Ke's child. Ying Zheng decides to hide the truth for Gongsun Li, treating the child as his own. Gongsun Li was deeply touched by Ying Zheng's actions. At the same time, Han Shen (Sun Li and Jing Ke's senior) entered the palace to save her and stayed on in the palace as an imperial guard. After much time, Gongsun Li comes to know a kinder and lesser known side of Ying Zheng and begins to fall for him. Facing the harem, the schemes of the concubines, and Ying Zheng's mercurial nature, Gongsun Li uses her wits, intelligence, and kindness to earn the love and respect of everyone.

My review:

I really love to torture myself with sad chinese historical drama. Sad historical drama hits harder than modern drama (at least for me). So yeah, you read it right. This drama has a sad ending. If you're looking for happily ever after ending, then this is not for you. But the plot is amazing. I REALLY LOVE VIN ZHANG SINCE TMOPB <3 And I love him even more here. So, Vin Zhang as the king is damn hot. Thank goodness I don't have a second lead syndrome here. Yes Jing Ke is a good guy, but I can't ignore the fact that I love Ying Zheng (yes I'm bias xD) and I really love Han Shen. He's so understanding and loyal and gentleman. He's a perfect guy. If I can't have Ying Zheng, I don't mind to have Han Shen xD The way Ying Zheng rule his country is really cruel, I admit. But the way he treat Gongsun Li is so sweet I can't >< at first he did treat her harshly. But as the story moving on, I REALLY LOVE HIM <3 and Li is such a girl crush. Her fighting scene is so good <3 and again, LI AND YING ZHENG IS SO SWEET I JUST CAN'T. Ying Zheng is so soft but cold and cruel at the same time but I can't seem to hate him. I'm a bit disappointed with the ending. WHY CAN'T YOU GIVE MY OTP A HAPPY ENDING? but honestly, I couldn't think of any better ending than that. Ying Zheng deserve it. But my Gongsun Li? SHE DON'T DESERVE IT :( I cried so bad. Do prepare tissues guys. You definitely need it. Highly recommend it! (for those who wanna cry or love to cry) this drama is a bit similar to 'Goodbye my Princess'. so yeah, recommended <3
