"Okay, so if it's not a troll, then what else could it be?" TJ shrugged, following after Hope, and Dr. Saltzman. The need to hang back, strengthened by the history between the two. TJ's eyes fluttered shut, doing his best to track down the savage thoughts of the beast.
"I don't know, but it's here. Somewhere." Ocean eyes flew open, falling onto the purple dribbles of blood. "Question is, why?" Dr. Saltzman asked. "I'm not sure. I mean the pattern is, we wound it, and then it runs and hides from us." "So, it must be sticking to the shadows. Waiting for it to get dark." The two stopped on the stairs turning back to TJ. Hope could sense something was off about the strangely powered boy, but that would be the subject for another time.
"Well, when the monsters came last time, they were always after something. Let's see if we can figure out what it's looking for." "Okay." Dr. Saltzman had already gone up the stairs, but when Hope stopped, TJ did too. He followed her gaze across the courtyard to find Landon Kirby, and the girl he was smooching on several days ago.
TJ didn't know what to do. It was clear Hope needed some sort of comforting, but for the first time in a long time, he didn't know how to do that. The teen boy sighed, lacing his fingers in Hope's, and pulling her along. Hope liked that TJ didn't even look at her. It may of took a moment to realize, but as before, Hope didn't need comfort, she needed a friend.
"Let's go kill this monster, partner." Hope merely smiled at the boy. The word partner made her cringe through, she didn't want to be only TJ's partner. Perhaps, he didn't feel the same, but then why does he act like did? Hope tried to push down those thoughts sure TJ could probably hear them.
She focused on the monster. That was what she needed to focus on, but her stupid thoughts kept finding their way back to hers, and TJ's entwined fingers.
"Sure thing, partner."

Hope's raven haired ex boyfriend sat on a bench located in the middle of the courtyard. The monster that TJ had no longer believed to be a troll stalked towards the Phoenix from behind. A dark part of him wanted to just let the monster have his way with Landon, but he knew he couldn't do that.
TJ focused all of his willpower on the beast. It would take more strength to move something of that weight, but he knew he could do it. His powers pummeled the monster all at once throwing it back a good distance away from Landon. Hope appeared on TJ's right, running, and jumping up to punch the not a troll in its face.
