trigger warning: panic attack

Harry hated it.

He hated watching his girl with someone else.

Two months ago Y/N and Harry broke up. He could barely remember what started the dumb fight, but he could sure as hell remember how it ended.

"Why are we even together if you don't trust me?!" Y/N screamed, her face turning redder and redder by the second as her blood boiled with anger.

"I don't know, Y/N! Maybe we shouldn't be anymore" Harry spat.

Silence filled the room as soon as Harry let those words slip from his mouth. He knew with every fiber in his being that he didn't mean it one bit, but it was too late to take it back.

"Maybe we shouldn't be" Y/N responded softly, finally giving up on them.

If Harry could turn back time and do anything, he would go back to that very moment and change everything about it. He would have taken it back. He would have stopped her as she packed her suitcase. He would have run after her as she made the slow walk to her car. He wouldn't have shut the door as she pulled out of the drive way.

But he didn't and he was stuck on a night out watching Y/N and her new guy friend (he refused to acknowledge that he was her boyfriend) dance together at the club.

After nearly five years of being together, there was no doubt that Harry's friends would take a liking to Y/N. So even after they broke up, Y/N remained in touch with many of them and even attended events that Harry were at, just like tonight at Nick's birthday party.

Harry usually never minded that she was there because just because they were broken up didn't mean that she had to stay out of his life completely. Sure, they didn't talk to each other at these gatherings, but there was the occasional stolen glance from both parties.

But this time was different. This time Y/N brought her new beau, Brandon, and practically flaunted him in front of Harry (although that was never her intention). She truly thought that Harry were over her, because in her mind, why would he be so hung up on her when he could have practically anybody?

"Oi, Harry! What's kept ya at the bar this whole time?" Nick asked as he approached Harry, "It sure as hell couldn't be these mediocre margaritas"

The bartender gave Nick a look but he was far too gone to notice or care. Harry on the other hand offered him a sympathetic smile before he attended to another customer.

"You've clearly had too many of them" Harry chuckled, taking a quick glance at Y/N who was laughing at some shitty joke her guy friend (he finally learned that his name was Brandon but didn't really care either way) told her. He couldn't help but feel a pang of jealousy as she touched his arm, throwing her head back in laughter.
