Danique's pov

Alexander, Edward and I were scouting through the city looking for evacuees. The city was in in complete ruins a few builfings remained standing. There were small fires, and in sometimes you could see a scavenger looting a ruin.

There were a few corpses lying around, and it was obvious they were going to remain there for a while. There were a few paramedics that dared to even get near the city
But never this far.

Yeah, I was definitely nervous, Alex didn't even seem bothered but Edward he seemed a bit on edge.
Now I am not used to fighting so I am a 'little' on edge, okay maybe I am VERY on edge. But you would be too! There is a dangerous creature on the loose killing people and destroying everything!

So of course we were armed and ready to fight.

We all were carrying multiple knives and had padded clothes, and a bullet proof vest under our shirts. We also had guns on us, but Alexander is the most accurate of us. If this was a RPG game we would have a defense of +6, and maybe an attack of +8.

Of course there where the scavengers and an occasional gang. We weren't very afraid to walk around here, but even we caried knives on us at all times.

The area we were going to now was a safe area, just outside of the city.
It was actually seates at the base of Mt. Ebott.

It also had the hospital as it's main base. Even though the lab wasn't in the safe zone, it luckily isn't that far apart. We were halfway on our way when we spotted an injured person.

A girl whom was clutching a brown haired dog in her arms with a desperate look on her face. We weren't close enough to see her clearly, but the faint red on the dog's hind leg was worrying.

The girl herself didn't seem to have any noticeable injuries, she had long curly hair that looked to be a dark blond. Her clothes were tattered, hinting at her being outside a safe zone for a whil.

Now of course we aren't monsters, so we walked towards her. Hands in the air to show that we aren't a threat. Her turquoise eyes radiated panic, fear and acceptance. After she registered our gesture she looked less terrified but still on edge.

"Miss, can we be of any assistance?" Alexander asked way too politely, Edward nudged him for it.

"He meant can we help?" Edward corrected him. The girl seemed more at ease now than before. Her eyes now radiating a hint of amusement.

"If it wouldn't be to much trouble of course, but I need help with getting my dog to the safe zone." She spoke softly, almost afraid to ask us for help.

Edward stook out his arms in way so that she could hand him the dog. She carefully gave her dog to him making sure that it wouldn't feel to much pain at the exchange. Alex and I looked around to see if there was anyone near friend or foe.

When Edward had the dog securely in his grip, we began walking along side the girl. Occasionally starting to small-talk. After about 6 minutes of walking she spoke up again.

"why are you helping me?". Her voice was so soft barely above a whisper. She clearly hadn't expected anyone to help her.

"Because it was the right thing to do!" I spoke up with a kind look on my face.

"Because Danique would kill us otherwise, or just maim us." Alexander and Edward said at the same moment a defeated look on either face. Now I really didn't like that awnser and shot them a glare, before realising I just proofed their point...

A soft chuckle came up from beside us, the girl apparently she found this funny. Can't really blame her.

"My name is June by the way."

We were about to turn around the corner. As we heard a sound coming from there, the sound of footsteps. We all collectively froze, all with different expressions. Since we had someone with us we couldn't use our magic.

So instead I pulled the dog out of Edwards grasp and placed it in June's arms again. Also I pushed Edward infront of us to use as a meat shield. He stumbled forward a look of offence and nervousness on his face. The footsteps grew closer, about to round the corner.

Being the 'experts' that we are, we started thinking about our funeral. Now we wouldn't go down without a fight. Well trying to fight. So Edward had his dominant hand on his knife and Alex was ready to pull his gun. I made sure to stand in front of June, an arm stretched protectively in front of her.

As we heard the footsteps round the corner, we could see another girl with a look of panick on her face. Short red dyed hair making her look young, it was in a pixie cut. Striking blue eyes. Even more panick and a splash of relief were now visible.

"Elise?"

June had called out to the girl.
We all turned around to June seeing how she seemed to grow happier with the second. She quickly handed Alex her dog and ran towards the girl named Elise. They both ran towards one another and hugged each other tightly.

Elise seemed to whisper something to June with a look of worry and suspiciousness on her face. June just laughed in response to whatever the other whispered.

"haha no, no! They actually are helping me. They were bringing me back to the safe zone."
She spoke with confidence now in the presence of a friend.

Elise seemed to relax at her friends statement and started to smile too.
She turned to us, a smile now greeting us.
