(Takes place in Washington DC)
It was the evening before my last day of school for winter break tomorrow. I'm excited, no school for almost three weeks.
I glanced over at the recipe for sugar cookies that was on my phone, I'm home alone now because daddy-o is on a mission.
I have my own mission called operation don't burn the kitchen down. I put some butter, the exact amount that it called for.
I'm hungry for actual food but all I know how to make is cereal and toast. Dad always cooks because he's good at it and I'm not...not complaining though.
"Okay...all I need now is sugar." I looked up, the sugar is on the top and I have tiny elf legs. "Can't have sugar cookies without sugar." I muttering and climbed up on the shelf.
I grabbed the sugar and just then I heard the door shut and it made me jump, I dropped the sugar all over myself.
Dad walked in, seeing me high up on the counter, completely a mess.
"I attempted to make cookies...can we just buy the pre-made ones from the store?"
He nodded and helped me down. "Can't even go one evening without a mess."
I didn't argue, I can be such a disaster.
But hey he started making hamburgers while I cleaned the sugar mess.
At least it wasn't flour?
