I stood next to Hermione for today's lesson with our new Professor for potions, Professor Slughorn.
As the Professor began to explain the liquid brewing inside of the cauldron, Harry and Ron burst through the door to the classroom causing a racket. Professor Slughorn turned his attention to the door confused and startled.
"Ahh. Harry my boy I was beginning to worry. You've brought someone with us, I see..." Professor Slughorn grins.
"Ron Weasley, sir. I'm dead awful at potions, menace so I'm probably just- "
"Nonsense! We'll sort you out. Any friend of Harry's is a friend of mine." Professor Slughorn insisted.
"Get your books out." He instructed soon afterwards.
"Sorry, sir. I haven't got my book yet nor has Ron." Harry chirped in, making both me and Hermione roll our eyes.
"Not to worry, get what you want from the cupboard." Slughorn waved before facing the class once again.
He started explaining from where he left off, but I was too caught up in watching Harry and Ron fighting over a book in the background to focus on what was being said.
I nudged Mione's shoulder and she turned to me with annoyance before noticing the two fooling around over a book.
"What idiots." She says
"You can say that again," I replied.
"Any ideas what these might be?" Professor Slughorn asked out to the class, making my head snap towards him once realising that I hadn't paid attention to anything he was saying.
Lucky for me, Hermione had.
"Yes, miss..."
"Granger, sir. That one there is veritas serum. It's a truth-telling serum." She began.
"It's tricky to make. This is Amortentia. The most powerful love potion in the world. It's rumoured to smell differently to each person, according to what attracts them." Hermione finished.
She began to explain the scent she could smell from the cauldron.
"For example, I smell...freshly mown grass and...new parchment and...spearmint toothpaste..." She trailed off as if the smell was overpowering a little.
She soon snapped out of it and came back to stand with me as the professor went on to explain how the potion worked.
"Those scents smell familar~" I teased her.
"Shut up." She huffed.
"The potion might not be 100% accurate." She argued protectively making an unattractive snort escape from my mouth.
"I highly doubt it. Besides, you said it yourself. It's the strongest love potion to have ever been made. I think you just don't want to admit your feelings for him." I argued
For the first time, I made Mione fall silent after I made that comment. I couldn't help myself.
"Oh, shut up," she says, rolling her eyes in the process.
"Fine by me. I got what I want." I laughed.
"And what exactly do you smell?" Mione asked, trying to change the subject.
"Funny you ask actually." I begun.
"It's a mixture between Gun powder, men's cologne and...popcorn?" I said as if I questioned myself to see if that was what I had smelt or not.
"I guess that's understandable," Mione sighed.
"Yeah," I replied but found myself zoning out throughout the lesson thinking of George.
