Warning: Gore, death of children, swearing
Note: (e/c) = eye color. (f/c) = favorite color. The story takes place in the late 19th century. The lore about vampires in this story is different from the stereotype. The religious things in this book is fake.

Side notes: Aesop was adapted in a wealthy family. At a young age, his foster family got into an accident, leaving him alone to thrive. A priest took him in out of mercy and raised him. The day the priest dies, he takes over the church from the priest's lessons. The townspeople distrust him at first, until they realize that each people are slowly going missing from the town each day.
P.S. You are a middle class and a semi-atheist. (Sorry religious readers!)

-------------

You are minding your own business in your small house, sketching out pictures on a canvas. You hum as the brush creates a stroke in the drawing, creating a delicate image of the night sky. It is currently noon with the sunrays being harsh in the dry climate.

Then, the bell rings.

You quickly set your things down and rush to the door. The moment you open it, crowds of people all runs to the church. You shove some people to make your way there faster, but someone unintentionally tripped you. You fall as your ankle twists. You tried to get up but no one bothers to help you, instead they simply stomp over your body and rush to the church. You try to limp to the doors before it closes, however time and luck wasn't on your side today. The entrance closes, leaving you in disbelief. You quickly limp back home and lock your door.

You limp to the fridge and grab some ice cubes. You shove it in a plastic bag, take a towel to cover it from getting an icy skin, and apply it on your swollen ankle. You exhale slowly from the aching pain but remain strong.
You mutter, "Out of all times.. why now?"

People who didn't make it to the church are rumored to be the next meals of the 'demon'.

You limp to bed with the ice bag and lay down. Your nightstand has a book, holy water, and a lamp. You take the book, opening it to the page you stopped at before and resume reading. The book is mainly about mythical creatures written by a dead old man who witnessed everything, and who was also your grandfather. The book was written purely by him since he describes what each creature does, what they feed on, where they usually hide or go to, and others. It is the only book that no one else has besides you, since you are his last inheritance due to the fact that your parents mysteriously disappeared from their trip back home.

You scan through gremlins, goblins, elves, fairies, dragons, zombies, until you stumble upon vampires. The picture shows a human skull but the canines are significantly longer than a normal person. You decide to read the section and almost immediately, you gasp when you read on their diet and what they do to the human body. The book states, "Vampires feed on the blood of live humans. They drain the life source of a human by using their fangs to dig in their necks and feast. They are savage by leaving the victim's bodies everywhere. The victims bodies are usually wilted and pale with 2 holes on their neck."

You cover your mouth in shock. You recall about hearing people talking about a wilted dead body and easily memorized the little detail they said. "He has two holes in his neck.." The people lied. It wasn't a demon, rather it's a vampire on the loose. You continue to read more about them. The book says, "Vampires age just like humans. They disguise themselves to appear like us to avoid getting killed. There are different kinds of vampires, depending who you meet. The most vicious and dangerous ones are the ones with a brain. They know how to manipulate a human into their trap and strikes. Remain cautious at all times if you encounter an intelligent person."

You grimace and thought, "Grandpa, you dumbass. There's so many smart people nowadays." You shrug it off anyways since the book is decades old. "Vampires have a special way of death, compared to human's vulnerability. They can only die from old age or from a bottle of holy water. Any other methods of eliminating them is impossible." You raise your right eyebrow. "I thought they die from garlic, sunlight, and a stake in the heart.. guess those are wrong." You further read the book as it say, "They have abnormal strength and spells. They can control people if they are not careful." Then suddenly, you groan when you accidentally move your ankle from a muscle spasm. "Motherfu-!"
