It's Tuesday, February 18, 2020. Somehow, I don't have any classes today. I thought I had a production course, but apparently it doesn't start until March 18, instead of February 18. How did I miss that?! I don't even know.
As it is, I signed up for an extra shift at Ossu Seiromushi, the restaurant where I work. Since I don't have a car, I'm sitting on a bus stop bench. Luckily, it's one of the ones that has a rain cover over the top, so I'm moderately protected from the wind. It's quite cold today, so I'm wearing a long coat, a hat I brought from home, and my knee-high boots.
I pull out my phone to check the time. I open my calendar to make sure I don't have anything else today, and something sticks out to me.
I FORGOT ABOUT J-HOPE'S BIRTHDAY! It's today.
Poor boy. What dreary weather to have a birthday celebration. I suppose that he's still in bed, sleeping in after a late-night V-live for his birthday. I hope he has a great time being 26! I open Spotify and choose my playlist "BTS".

As I put my earphones in, I feel a tap on my shoulder. I look up to see a man in an oversized coat and black sweatpants. He has on a warm hat and a mask, so I can't tell who he is, but I see a piece of dark brown hair with a lighter highlight peeking out of his beanie. It's kinda cute, to see just that little bit sticking out.
He seems familiar for some reason. Maybe I saw him at school...? He seems to be about three or four years older than me though... I have no clue. Maybe a customer.
He sits down next to me and says in broken English, "May I... share your buds?". Although his English isn't amazing, it sounds familiar, and I nod and reply in close-to-perfect Korean.
"Of course, sir. Tell me if you need... a different song." Inside, I'm cringing at how long it took me to remember the word for 'different'. I chuckle as his eyes get wide. I'm clearly NOT from around here, but I speak his language quite well. He sits on my right, so I hand him the left bud.
Then I turn my BTS playlist back on, and Trivia: Just Dance comes on right then. I LOVE this song. And it's appropriate, since it's J-hope's birthday. I hum along to the English parts, and start to nod my head to the beat, though I'm careful not to bother my earphone buddy. Then as I text Kat about how I forgot Hoseok's birthday... I hear him say "Just dance" along to the song and I realize...
I know where I know him from.
And I may have just made the worst and most embarrassing mistake of my life.
I turn to him in shock, as he takes off his mask. Trivia: Just Dance keeps playing in one ear as I say shakily,
"H-hobi?"
