LENNON RAE PHILLIPS
I hadn't even thought about the musical until my phone buzzed upon the counter and I peered at the message written upon it.
I hated musicals, well not really but it was way easier to say that than explaining the deeper meaning to why I couldn't stand people breaking into song.
It wasn't even that it was high school musical, that wasn't a factor at all because truthfully back at the foster home before I was fostered out, we used to watch it on loop to entertain the younger ones and it wasn't half bad.
"Lennon Rae!" Called Tracey and then her familiar footsteps echoed heavily around the house until they came to a pause at my door "we're leaving"
Tracey my foster mother always left with her boyfriend, Sean, sometimes it was for weeks and she'd almost always leave the fridge completely empty.
I didn't get a second glance before she stuck her nose up in disgust at me and left the room with a low grunt. She hated me as did everyone else.
It was only then that I was able to look at the notification I had received about the theatre club. It looked intriguing to be genuinely honest but I was left to wonder what weirdos would be involved.
It was laughable that I, Lennon Rae, would be involved in something like that.
The notification was all about the auditions, when and where, and I sighed because it definitely wasn't something I wanted to take part in.
I'd then decided that if it was obligatory for me to get involved then I would make it my mission to do the bare minimum.
I wasn't going for any main roles, in fact to be truly honest I wasn't going for any roles whatsoever.
I headed for the kitchen in a slump, my head bowed and my shoulders low. I was starved and I hoped and prayed that the cupboards or at least the fridge would hold something that looked slightly edible.
But when I pulled open the door I was met with completely bare shelves and the depressed humming coming from the back of the light that illuminated the emptiness.
Instead I snatched an apple from the side, it was bruised and felt almost squishy in my hand but nevertheless it was food and I bit into it to give into my grumbling belly.
