Chapter 4: Don't Trust Who?

Alex’s Pove

It has been only three days since everything that has happen with Alice, she has been calling and texting me even showed up at my house I told Kelly to tell her I was sleeping or that I didn’t want to talk. I just couldn’t stand to be near my so called best friend not after seeing her and Zander together and I still wasn’t sure what had happen and why he was there and part of me didn’t want to know. I have been talking to Damien a lot though and been learning a lot about him. Damien had told me about his family his mom and his little brother Matt and how his dad left him and his mother and brother when he was only 9 years old, I then started to tell him about my life and how my dad was a drunk and beat my mom one night because he was drunk and how me and my mom took off heading to my grandparents’ house and how we were struck by a drunk driver driving a truck, how I was thrown from the car but the car went up in flames before my mom could get out, how scared I was being alone at only three. I told him about how I keep re-living the nightmare every night.

We talked threw text the whole weekend and the more I got to know him the more I trusted him. “Hey do you want to walk to school with me in the morning? I normally drive but it is going to be nice out tomorrow, Alice normally walks with me but I really don’t want to see her,’’– Alex

 “Sure that sounds nice I am in, do you want to hang out today?  – Damien 

“What would we do? Play video games? I have the Xbox one I got it last year for Christmas- Alex

“That’s fine with me I’ll be over in 10 minutes just want to put Matt down for a nap for mom”- Damien

 * 10 minutes later at Alex’s house*

There’s a knock on the door I get up and went to answer it, believing it would be Damien but Alice was behind the door. “You have been avoiding me yet you seem like you are expecting someone. Who are you expecting?” Alice said

“I don’t want to talk to you right now and yes I am expecting someone, his name is Damien and he is my friend “I answer her back just as Damien pulls up, “if you do not mind I have a friend over you need to go bye” I say walking out meet Damien I notice Alice walking away out of the corner of my eye and then I walked into the house and to the living room where I had my xbox. Damien and I played the day away shooting the enemy and keeping the world safe I hear Kelly call us. “Alex, Damien dinner is ready that is if you feel like staying to eat Damien” she says looking at the time I couldn’t believe that it was already 8:00.

We all ate dinner talked and laughed Kelly asked Damien about his family and we just all enjoyed the meal and the talking but it was getting late so sadly we had to say goodbye and get ready to go to bed

I walked Damien to the door “thanks for the fun day it was nice it helped me to take my mind off of a lot of things, even helped me to see that I don’t need Alice to have fun. “ I say to Damien “it was no problem I had fun thanks for having me night “and with that he was gone I spoke to Kelly for a little while, “what happen with you and Alice?” she asked I sat down and explained it all to her.

“Alex did you give her a chance to explain what happen or why Zander was at her house?’’ 

“Well no I was so mad and I really don’t want to know anymore. I am going to take a shower then to bed night Kelly I love you “

Upstairs after my shower I get into my pjs and read a little before I start to get tired and lay down, *it’s on like donkey Kong starts playing as my phone goes off * I look at my phone it was Alice I didn’t answer I turned over and went to sleep and into dream land. I didn’t have the same nightmare that I had been having instead I had this nice dream I felt safe and I saw my mom but she wasn’t burned she was an angel, she was trying to tell me something “ don’t blame yourself and whatever you do don’t trust” that’s all she said before she vanished into thin air. Don’t trust who and why I thought as I drifted off back into a deep sleep.
