The Mask of Vanity

The thing we hide behind

The filters

The makeup

The scars we inflict on ourselves

I dare not look at my face

I dare not see my flaws

I'd rather wear a mask

And hide behind the layers

My insecurities eating me away

The more I try to fix myself

The more I destroy me

What was once beautiful is an

obscure mess

And I can't take off the mask I hide

behind

Because without that mask I am

nothing
