Julieta

I ran as fast as I could through the trees, trying to keep my pace up as I was for sure Lucian had already woken back up.
My legs were starting to give out when I reached the edge of the tree-line, my eyes scanning everywhere around me for somewhere to hide.

A small laundry mat caught my eye and I ran for it. As it came closer in my sight I saw a familiar face through the glass.

It couldn't be- She said she'd never be back.

I didn't have much time to figure it out before I was rushing in through the door and past the woman I used to know.
It seems she saw me as I heard my name being called behind me, and quick footsteps behind me.

"Jules! Wait! Wait!"

I stopped at the door leading out of the laundry mat, body hard as rock as I turned around slowly. My eyes met hers in a fiery gaze that could've burned down the entire place.
She smiled lowly before she noticed the cuts and forming bruises on my body. She stepped forward, hand reaching out toward me, which I shook my head and stepped back.

"What happened to you?" I didn't know why she was here, or why she was back for that matter. Could I trust her was the question I was asking myself.
Was she here by chance? Was it just a coincidence? Or did Lucian bring her here? Is she in on his plans?

"Jules, Lucian told me you were kidnapped. He said he needed help to find you."

I gulped loudly, shaking my head. What was Lucian's angle here? Why bring her back if he knows what she means to me? Was he going to kill her? Use her to get to me?
"I'm pretty sure he murdered Damián. So I ran." She blinked her lashes at me rapidly, the wheels turning in her head.

"He told me Damián was killed by an assassin! And that they took you!"

I laughed evilly, of course he did. I rolled my eyes, looking between her and the back door. She too glanced behind me before she gasped.
"Did Lucian do that to your face?" With a nod of confirmation from me, she walked until she was right in front of me.
Her hand tucked a piece of hair behind my ear, a soft smile resting on her face.

I loved that face. Staring into those deep brown eyes of hers, kissing her lips.

I shook my head to let the thoughts leave me as I remembered Ezekiel. He's the person I love.
She opened the door behind me, pushing me out and before I knew it I was being put into a car.

"I'm not going to let anything happen to you Jules. Lucian will pay for what he's done to you."

The car was being driven quickly down the street and toward a two story house on the outskirts of some city here in Mexico.
A breath of relief escaped my chest as I saw the house and security belonging to her, the first woman I ever loved.

"Madame, what can we do for you?" The woman beside me looked me over and told the man to take me to a room to get cleaned up. Obliging, he had me follow him and into the house where I realized I wasn't being followed by my savior.
Before I could even ask where she was, he informed me she had business to take care of, to which I simply nodded.

I couldn't help but look at the tattoo on his forearm, the word Mortales engraved on his skin. This had me wondering if the woman who never wanted to be leader, became one after all.

"Madame will be with you when she's done with her meeting." I nodded as he turned and left the room, closing the door behind him softly.
Looking around, you could tell this was a guest room.
The all white sheets on the bed matching the light brown wooden frame that looked to be in the upmost of shape.

I sighed as I searched the room for clothing and towels. And when I found both, I immediately took a shower to wash away the filth from the past few days.

As I was leaving the bathroom in nothing but a towel, I jumped as I looked up to see a figure sleeping on my bed.
When I got closer I noticed it was her. She moaned as she sat up in my bed, her eyes hungrily raking over my body. Years ago, I would've appreciated this, but right now, I couldn't help but feel somewhat violated.

I tucked the towel around me tighter, grabbing my clothes and running back into the bathroom to change.
I could hear her soft laughs from inside the room, "Oh Jules. It's nothing I haven't seen before!"

When I walked out again, she was standing near the bathroom door, catching me near the doorway. She pressed her body against mine, her eyes staring into mine intently.
"What's wrong Julieta? Why so quiet?" I shook my head, trying to get away from her, but was stopped by her arm. My breathing became shaky as I closed my eyes and took in a deep breath.

Her hair still smelled like the ocean.

When I reopened my eyes, I could see her looking at me with a hungry gaze. I bit my lip out of instinct, trying to think of a way out of this.
"Listen, I have someone... New."
She stepped away from me, eyes narrowing in the form of the question who. I nervously played with the band around my wrist, snapping it every so often.

"Well, it has been awhile. Of course you would've moved on... But just so you know, I've never moved on from you."

I couldn't take this, it was too much for me. How could she try and guilt trip me? She left me!
I know she could see the anger in my eyes nagging to come to the surface.
What surprised me was that she just leaned against the doorframe watching me, not saying a thing. But after a few minutes, I couldn't take it anymore.

"Look, you left me Stella. You had a place next to me and you left. That's not my fault. So don't try and guilt trip me for your mistake."

It was like my entire speech didn't even phase her. She simply blinked at me, before she smiled and came close to me. Too close for comfort.
We stared into each other's eyes for what seemed like days until she placed a kiss on my lips.
It was soft and sweet, almost like it was a goodbye. When she pulled away the only thing I could do was stare at her.

"I'll always love you Julieta. And I'm sorry I wasn't able to be who you needed me to be." She began to walk out of my room, stopping at the door to look at me.
"And by the way, I'm pretty sure your boys are in Mexico. My men have reported seeing Galindo." A smile made its way on my face, a newfound excitement in me.

If Miguel is here, the Mayans have to be with him. Which means Ezekiel is there. I can't wait to be in his arms again.

I watched as the door closed behind her, my entire body loosening back up. After all these years, and I still love her. It's not the same like I feel for Ezekiel, of course, but it's still there.
I smiled at the memory of that man. His warm smile that always seemed to make my day better, those big brown eyes.
Sighing, I paced around the room, biting my nails nervously.

I need them to know I'm okay and alive.

I have to find a way to tell them.
