Hisoka noticed us approaching and rose to his feet with a faint smile playing on his lips. A subtle unease crept over me as I realized something was amiss—where was Illumi? He was nowhere to be seen.

Just as I was about to voice my concern, Hisoka preempted me.
"Ah, yes~ It appears Illumi is still in the process of acquiring his badge," he explained, his smile widening. I shot him a puzzled glance, and Chrollo, who had been standing silently beside me, suddenly extended his hand toward Hisoka, causing me to startle slightly. I had momentarily forgotten he was there.

"Hello. I'm Chrollo Lucilfer," he introduced himself, his gaze fixed on Hisoka's face. Hisoka's smile faltered for a moment, giving way to a hint of annoyance. However, he swiftly resumed his smile while returning the introduction.
"I see~ Hisoka Morow, a pleasure to meet you~" I couldn't help but notice Hisoka's silent refusal to shake Chrollo's hand, resisting the urge to scoff at his hypocrisy.

Suddenly, a voice that brought a smile to my face interrupted our conversation. "Oh! Hello, (Y/n). I was just about to look for you," Illumi said, jogging towards me. He then reached into his back pocket, retrieved a badge, and placed it in the middle of my palm.

"Hold on, Illumi. This is your badge. I need to get my own assigned badge." I raised an eyebrow in a playful yet incredulous expression, eliciting a chuckle from him.
"Are you sure, (Y/n)?" he asked, and I flipped over the badge to look at the number; 406.

I gazed at the number in amazement, then glanced up at Illumi, who held his own badge.
"I noticed your target as I was returning and you were not nearby, so I thought I'd do you a small favor," Illumi explained.

"Oh, I remember you," Chrollo remarked, his smile widening as he glanced at me. "We met in the same class where I first encountered (Y/n)."
"Ah, yes, indeed," Illumi replied, his tone somewhat distant. The atmosphere shifted into a prolonged silence, stretching uncomfortably between us. It was one of those moments where words seemed inadequate, as if everything that needed to be conveyed had already been said. The tension hung thick in the air, making the situation palpably awkward for all of us.

Thankfully, Hisoka's intentional throat clearing captured everyone's focus, a subtle signal that it was time to shift gears.
"Well~ Now that everyone's acquired their badges," he announced, his tone carrying a hint of finality, "I believe it's time that we hand them in." He was right, especially now, with the impending end of the class period.

"Good idea, I probably should go find my teammates," Chrollo remarked before vanishing behind a cluster of trees.
Hisoka and I exchanged waves, acknowledging the dispersal of our group. Then, out of the corner of my eye, I noticed Illumi making his way toward the school entrance. With a sense of urgency, I quickened my pace to catch up with him.

After class, I noticed that the day had drawn to a close, signaling it was time to head home. Hastily changing out of my gym uniform, I slung my bag over my shoulder and exited the locker rooms. As I navigated the bustling corridors, my thoughts drifted to the upcoming evening ahead.

Suddenly, my forward momentum was halted as two arms encircled me in an unwelcome embrace.

"Good-bye, (Y/n)~ See you tomorrow~" Hisoka's voice chimed in my ear.
Suppressing an internal groan, I wriggled out of his grasp and turned to face him. "Mhm. Cya."

Hisoka's smiling eyes followed me as I turned away, but it felt like his gaze lingered on me, boring into the back of my head even long after I'd already stepped out of sight.

As I approached our lockers, I immediately spotted Illumi, already prepared and waiting for me. "There you are. I was starting to wonder if you'd forgotten about our plans," he remarked, a hint of teasing in his voice.

I shot him a scowl, but he only returned it with an amused look, his large eyes glinting with mischief.
Exhaling an exasperated sigh, I shoved my gym bag into my school bag, quickly zipped it up, and donned my sweater. With my bag slung over my shoulder, I joined Illumi as we made our way to the bus stop.

After a surprisingly long walk, we finally reached Illumi's residence, and I couldn't help but be awestruck by the grandeur of the estate. Illumi effortlessly guided us through a gate embedded in the large, sturdy fence surrounding the property.
The pathway leading to the two imposing dark wood front doors was lined with an array of beautiful, elegant flowers, enhancing the overall charm of the entrance. As we made our way down the stone path, I took in the lush greenery that enveloped us. The grass appeared invitingly soft, tempting me to lie down and soak in the tranquility of the surroundings.

With a deft movement, Illumi unlocked and opened one of the massive doors using a key from his jacket pocket. Stepping inside, I was greeted by the exquisite interior, which matched the elegance of the exterior. The air was filled with a sense of warmth and comfort, and I couldn't help but smile as I heard the delighted screech and laughter of a young child. Killua.

I heard the swift patter of tiny feet echoing down a hallway and then descending the stairs, followed by the appearance of a familiar 3-year-old with striking white hair. He raced towards Illumi, giggling with unrestrained joy, while a butler hurried behind, trying to keep up with the energetic toddler.
"Illumi!" he exclaimed gleefully, launching himself into his big brother's awaiting arms.

"Hello, Killua. How was your day today?" Illumi inquired, a fond smile gracing his features as he tilted his head slightly to the side.
"Okay, but my tummy hurt a lot," Killua muttered, his expression shifting briefly to discomfort before returning to his usual cheerful demeanor.

"Hi, Killua," I greeted warmly. The small toddler stiffened for a moment, his curiosity evident, before he tilted his head back to look at me. His bright expression quickly turning into a grin of recognition.
"Hi, (Y/n)! You were coming to our house today?" he asked, his adorable big blue eyes sparkling with curiosity.

"Yes, I was," I confirmed with a smile, enjoying his enthusiasm.

Killua made an 'O' shape with his mouth, a typical reaction of surprise, and then pushed away from Illumi, eager to show me something in the massive living room.

"Wanna play tag with me?" Killua's innocent voice chimed, his eyes sparkling with enthusiasm. "I was playing with him," he pointed at the butler, who seemed slightly out of breath, "but it wasn't any fun, he's too slow."
Suppressing a giggle at the butler's reaction to being called slow, I replied with a warm smile, "I'd love to, Killua, but I'm tired and I doubt I'd be faster than him."

Killua's expression shifted into a disappointed frown. "Aw~ Guess I'll go bother Piggy then," he giggled before darting back upstairs. Once the butler had left as well, I gently tapped Illumi's shoulder to get his attention.

"Your brother Killua is so cute!!" I couldn't help but quietly squeal with delight.

"Yes, (Y/n), you told me that the last time you saw him," Illumi sighed, accustomed to my admiration for his younger sibling. Without waiting for my response, he grabbed my wrist and began to drag me up the stairs and towards his bedroom.

Illumi's room was quite impressive. As soon as you entered, a bookshelf on the right side caught your attention, filled to the brim with various books. The bed, positioned opposite the bookshelf, boasted an elegant mahogany bed frame adorned with black sheets that looked incredibly soft and inviting. A large window in the center of the room offered a view of the vast backyard, and a glass door led to a spacious balcony, adorned with beautiful dark curtains that added a touch of sophistication.

Illumi strode confidently over to a desk nestled beside the bookshelf. With a swift motion, he hung his bag off the chair, unzipped it, and neatly arranged his books on the desk.

Then, once he'd tidied up to his liking, Illumi returned to where I stood and ushered me outside into the hallway, closing the door behind us with a soft click.
"Mother will want to see you," he remarked, his tone indicating a mixture of duty and anticipation. He then guided me back down the stairs, his steps measured and purposeful.
