CHAN'S POV

"Yes, Mom. Okay, see you soon." I ended the call just as I spotted a familiar face entering the lobby.

"Yow, Hyung!" I called out, grinning as Woojin approached.

He raised a brow with a smirk. "What's up, Chan?"

"Hey, stop treating me like a kid," I said, half-joking, flexing my biceps. "Do these look like a child's arms to you?"

He chuckled. "Still dramatic, I see."

We walked side by side. "How long are you staying? Semester break's almost over."

"Next week," he replied. "You?"

"We're leaving tomorrow," I sighed. "Kinda sucks we won't get to hang out more."

He nodded. "Yeah, feels like we barely got to catch up."

We had a habit of bumping into each other like this—then suddenly, the day would be gone. Eating, playing, talking like no time had passed. Honestly, I missed this. I missed him.

"Oh, by the way... has Yeona arrived yet?"

I looked around. "Not yet. I've been waiting here. Why?"

He shrugged. "Thought she'd be back already. It's past 8 p.m."

I checked the time. "Yeah... they're running late."

Then he asked, "She dating anyone?"

I blinked. "No... why?"

"I thought I saw her with some guy at the Jeju night viewpoint. Looked like her, at least. The flash from someone's phone lit up her face. She was laughing... and he was close. Real close."

My heart dropped a bit. My first thought? Hyunjin. It had to be Hyunjin.

"Oh. That's probably Hyunjin. She's been showing him and Jeongin around," I said, shoving my hands into my pockets.

"Them?" Woojin asked, raising an eyebrow. He then pointed toward the buffet entrance. "Yeah. Jeongin's right there."

Woojin followed me as I approached Jeongin. I tried to stay calm.

"Why are you here?" I asked, my voice a little tighter than I intended.

Jeongin blinked. "What do you mean?"

"Why aren't you with your brother?"

"Oh, Hyunjin said they wanted to go out just the two of them today. Last day and all, y'know?"

My mind raced. Woojin tapped my shoulder.

Later, I sat on a bench near the hotel, wind brushing lightly against my face. I stared at the ground, trying to steady my thoughts.

Woojin handed me a soda and sat beside me. No words, just silence for a while.

Then he said, "Remember what I told you at the beach?"

"Random. What about it?"

"About love."

I stared at the pavement. His words echoed in my mind.

"If you really love someone... fight for them. Don't let anyone else take them."

I whispered it aloud, as if saying it would ground me.

Woojin stood. "Then that's it. I've done my part."

"What do you mean?"

"You know what to do, Chan. You've always been sharp." He tossed his can in the bin and walked off.

"But—"

"See you in Seoul," he said over his shoulder, disappearing into the hotel.

I leaned back, eyes on the sky.

"Never give up, huh..."

Maybe the stars were listening too.

The next morning, we were loading luggage into taxis. Everyone was buzzing with chatter—plans, memories, excitement. Seungmin handed me my bag and helped with the rest.

"Hey, Chan," he said, glancing toward someone. "I think Hyunjin and Yeona are a thing now."

I scoffed. "Don't start making stuff up."

"Look," he said, nodding toward them.

There they were—Yeona and Hyunjin. Laughing, talking. Their smiles were soft. Their eyes sparkled like they were in their own world.

Something in me snapped.

"Hey! Things would go faster if everyone helped out, right?! Hyunjin? Yeona?" I called out, too loudly.

They stared at me, startled.

I turned back to the luggage, jaw clenched. Seungmin approached me, concern written all over his face.

"Chan... you okay?"

I shook his hand off my shoulder. "Just go get their stuff."

The flight home was tense. I kept telling myself to calm down, to be rational—but I couldn't stop looking at them. I ended up next to Hyunjin on the plane. Great.

He looked over. "Wow, didn't expect to sit next to you, Hyung!"

I said nothing, just hummed, eyes fixed forward.

"Wanna play a game or something?" he offered, scrolling through the screen in front of him.

I plugged in my headphones and closed my eyes.

I didn't want to hear his voice anymore.

YEONA'S POV

What a waste. I didn't even get to sit next to Hyunjin. Instead, I was beside Seungmin, who kept glancing at my phone screen.

I messaged Hyunjin, and we giggled over memes and videos, trying to stay quiet. When Seungmin finally noticed...

"Is that Hyunjin?"

"N-No! Just a classmate!" I said, voice jumping an octave. Why did I sound so guilty? We weren't even dating.

Once he got distracted, I messaged Hyunjin and told him everything. We talked for a while... until his replies stopped. Probably fell asleep or lost signal. I pocketed my phone and drifted off.

When we landed in Seoul, the cold hit like a slap. Everyone looked exhausted as we gathered in the lobby. I searched for Hyunjin but only caught a glimpse before we had to move again.

Yuji clung to my arm. "I swear, I could sleep for a year."

As we loaded our luggage into the taxi, a shout cut through the noise.

"CAN YOU JUST GET LOST?!"

My head snapped toward the sound. I froze.

Hyunjin was on the ground.

Chan stood over him—angry, breathing hard.

What the hell just happened?
