YEONA'S POV
I rushed to Hyunjin, dropping to my knees beside him. "Hey—are you okay?" I asked, scanning him for any visible injuries. Jeongin was already there, hovering with wide eyes.
"Hyung, what happened?" Jeongin asked, helping me lift him up gently.
Hyunjin dusted himself off, brushing it all off like it was nothing. "I'm okay. Really."
My chest tightened. That wasn't nothing.
Then I snapped.
"Are you insane?!" I shouted at Chan. He didn't even flinch. No apology. No explanation. Just cold silence as he walked to a separate taxi and drove off without another word.
Unbelievable.
I turned back to Hyunjin. "Are you sure you're okay?"
He nodded. "Don't worry. I've had worse from falling off a surfboard."
I forced a small smile, but inside, my thoughts were swirling. What the hell was that about?
The rest of us headed home, the ride eerily quiet compared to how the trip started.
When I stepped into the house, the scent of home hit me like a warm hug.
"I'm home," I called out, dropping my bag at the doorway.
"Oh, dear! You're finally home!" Mom rushed over and wrapped her arms around me like I'd been gone for years.
"Missed you too, Mom," I laughed softly into her shoulder.
Dad peeked over his newspaper. "Did you have fun?"
"A lot," I replied with a grin—though the memory of the airport lingered in the back of my mind. I didn't want to worry them.
After chatting briefly, I slipped away to my room. I placed my suitcase by the corner and sank onto the bed, letting out a long sigh as I stared at the ceiling.
Everything felt... heavy.
I grabbed my phone and texted Hyunjin.
Yeona: Hey, you guys got home already?
Hyunjin: Yeah, you?
Yeona: Just now.
Hyunjin: I know you're probably thinking about what happened with Chan. Don't worry, I'm okay. I'll try talking to him, okay?
Yeona: What even happened, though?
Hyunjin: Maybe I annoyed him? I talk a lot, maybe he got tired of me.
Yeona: But Chan isn't like that...
Hyunjin: People change, Yeona.
That hit harder than I expected.
Was Chan... changing?
I bit my lip, staring at the message. It made my chest ache a little.
Yeona: I guess you're right... I'll go clean up first. Talk later?
Hyunjin: Sure :)
I tossed my phone onto the bed and changed into more comfortable clothes. I unpacked, did a bit of laundry, and tidied my room—it was a mess after nearly three weeks away. After dinner and a quick shower, I crawled into bed, my skincare routine barely done, sleep nowhere in sight.
No matter how hard I tried, my mind wouldn't rest.
Not until I heard it from Chan himself.
I picked up my phone, hesitating... and finally typed.
