CHANGBIN'S POV

I opened my eyes gradually, and the first sensation I noticed was a sting in my brain. I made an attempt to touch my head, but I failed. My hands were bound when I turned to look behind me. I shook my head to clear my vision as I heard incomprehensible screaming.

I gradually started to see again, and across from me was someone. A girl was lying there, but she didn't stop moving. When I heard my name being called, I realized that Yeona was the person in front of me. When I saw her chained up like me and looking so filthy, my eyes widened.

"Yeona, why are you here?" I asked, trying to take in what was going on.

"Someone kidnapped us," she said.

"Yeah, I remembered a guy asking for directions while I was walking home, and he asked if I could take him to where he needed to go, but then he put something in my face, and now I'm here." I explained everything I could remember.

"That's almost exactly what happened to me," she said.

I looked around and noticed that we were the only ones in here. It was an abandoned restroom.

" Hyunjin has been very concerned about you and your family, and they have already requested police assistance in finding you," I explained. She simply looked at me and began crying.

"It's like hell here; I've been alone and scared," she said, pitying herself.

"What did they do to you?" I asked.

"They keep beating me up," she replied. That accounted for the bruises and scars. Her clothes were nearly torn apart. She was barefooted and dressed in a dark green long sleeve and a black skirt that only reached half of her thighs.

"It's okay; I'm here now; you're not alone," I reassured her. She looked at me slowly, her eyes wet. I've never seen Yeona like this.

"We're going to escape here soon, and they'll be arrested," I said, even though I was scared and unsure what would happen. Though I'm not straight, I was indeed the man here but I had to protect Yeona.

The door to my right suddenly opened. We watched as a man in a white mask entered the room, holding two trays, each with a bowl. I was suddenly terrified, but I knew I shouldn't show it.

"Long days, huh? You have no idea how many days have passed, do you?" he asked. He approached Yeona and set the tray in front of her. As Yeona moved back, he crouched down to her level.

" Get away from her!" I yelled louder than usual due to the echo in the room.

"What? I'm just going to feed her; she hasn't eaten in two days," he explained. As he pushed the tray towards her, he moved closer to her.

The tray contained only white rice and cabbage kimchi. He tried to shove something into Yeona's mouth, but she refused. He tried and tried again until he gave up. He slapped Yeona hard with his hand through his hair. My eyes were wide open as Yeona screamed in agony.

"You jerk! Stop it!" I yelled at him. He came to a halt and turned to face me.

"I won't stop until this bitch eats, because I still need her, so she needs to be alive for at least a couple of days," he said as he tried to feed Yeona again, but she refused and he slapped her.

When our gazes met, I could see fear in her eyes, so I nodded as a sign to just go with it. She accepted it, and the man lavished her with compliments like a dog. He fed her until the last grain of rice was gone. He gave her a cup of water to drink before returning it to the tray.

He handed me the other tray, which contained the same food as Yeona's. He fed me, and I tasted it carefully to see if anything was off, but it was just regular food. We finished, and he wiped down the plate. When he turned around to face us, he was walking towards the door.

"Now that you've been fed, you can just pee or poop in your place; be prepared," he said as he walked out of the room.

"Are you okay? " I asked Yeona.

"I'd be lying if I said being slapped more than ten times wasn't painful," she replied. Her face was a wreck. Bruised, swollen, and bloodshot. I felt bad for her.

"Just wait, we'll be out of here soon," I reassured her, and she just smiled.

Even though we felt asleep and were unsure of the time of day or night, we had no idea how many days had already passed. Every second was filled with anxiety, jitters, and fear. We just urinated in the hole nearby because, thank God, neither of us felt the urge to poop. We simply made a U-turn when one of us had to urinate. We simply had no idea how we had survived for several hours or days.

We were awakened by the sound of a forceful kick to the door. It was the same person, only this time he was accompanied by two additional individuals who were all decked out in jumpsuits and mascot heads-a dog and a squirrel, respectively. On the phone, the man with the mask had a conversation. He continued bringing up threats or other matters. The two mascot men approached Yeona and me on foot. Yeona was with me as the dog approached me and peered down at me and the squirrel.

"Let them scream," said the man on the phone.

When the dog pulled out a knife, I began crawling backwards. Yeona was screaming and yelling at the mascot to stop. I did the same thing, and the mascot grabbed my neck. I tried to resist, but he was too powerful.

While still holding me by the neck, he ripped the left polo sleeve off of my uniform and used the knife to carve something upon my arm. I could hear Yeona wailing and screaming in pain throughout the entire room. My eyes started to cry.

The man in the mask approached me and placed the phone close to my face as I screamed. The contact was just a series of numbers, but I was certain Hyunjin's voice was on the other end of the line, frantic. As soon as I yelled his name, the man swiftly took my phone and also did the same to Yeona. The mascot men halted and approached the mask man.

The masked man added, "Thank you for your cooperation. Be ready. This was just a warm up." as they walked out of the room.

There was loud breathing throughout the space. I caught a glimpse of Yeona sitting with her back against the wall. There was a lot of blood on her, and her hands were just lying dead on the ground. I took a look at the carvings he had done on my arm. Blood was seen all throughout. I made an attempt to examine what he had carved; there were seemingly random lines, but I could make out a 'S'. I gave Yeona a glance.

"I'm sorry..." I apologized, embarrassed.

"What for?" she asked hesitantly.

"I was unable to protect you... " I apologized.

"It's okay, neither of us could do anything," she said as tears streamed down her cheeks.

"Hang in there... Hyunjin is on his way," I said.

"How did you know?" she questioned.

"He was on the phone," I said, doing my best to smile at her in this situation.

She gave a weak smile before collapsing from pain.
