YEONA'S POV

I woke up with a smile still lingering on my lips. The sunlight filtered gently through my curtains, casting a soft glow across my room. It was just past 9 a.m. when I reached for my phone and saw a message from Hyunjin.

Hyunjin: Good morning.
Me: Good morning! 😊

I replied quickly, heart fluttering a little more than it should. After freshening up, I headed downstairs for breakfast.

"Good morning!" I chirped as I entered the kitchen.

"Someone's unusually chipper today," Minho said, raising a brow as he placed plates on the table. "Planning something stupid again?"

"Can you not ruin my morning?" I said, narrowing my eyes.

We all sat down to eat. The conversation was light, full of the usual family banter. I glanced at my phone under the table, hoping for another message—and sure enough, there it was.

Hyunjin: Have you eaten yet?
Me: I'm eating now.
Hyunjin: Oh, then eat well.
Me: You?
Hyunjin: Already ate.
Me: What are you doing?
Hyunjin: Just finished exercising.
Me: Okayyy, I'll text you later after breakfast.
Hyunjin: Okay. Chew your food well.

I couldn't help but smile at his last message.

"Yah, what are you smiling at?" Minho asked, suddenly looming over me.

"N-nothing," I stammered, quickly slipping my phone into my lap.

"Yeah, right," he smirked. "Appa! Yeona has a boyfriend!"

"What?!" my dad looked up, eyebrows shooting up in surprise.

"No! I don't!" I blurted out, flailing a little. "I just saw a funny meme, that's all!"

Minho snorted. "You lie worse than your handwriting."

"At least I have a sense of humor. No wonder your exes left so fast," I shot back.

Minho gasped. "Excuse me?! You—"

"Thanks for the food!" I cut him off and bolted upstairs before another sibling war broke out.

I sank onto the floor beside my bed, still smiling to myself. The memory of last night fluttered back into my mind—his arms, his breath on my skin, the kiss... I touched my lips, heart thumping all over again.

I squealed softly, kicking my feet in the air.

But as the hours passed, my excitement dulled. I sent Hyunjin a message. No reply.

I distracted myself with chores, scrolled through my feed, even rewatched a few old dramas. Still nothing. Yuji was spending the week at her grandparents' place, so I had no one to hang out with.

By the time 6 p.m. rolled around, the silence from Hyunjin was deafening. My chest felt heavy, like a balloon slowly deflating. I sat on my bed and curled into myself, hugging my knees tightly.

Three days passed.

Still no message. No call.

I hated how my emotions twisted—sadness, confusion, frustration. I tried to brush it off, to tell myself he was just busy. I even went by his neighborhood and spotted him a couple of times with Jeongin, laughing like everything was fine. So... why hadn't he reached out?
