The boys were not looking forward to prom because it was deemed a tradition that seniors were excited for, but rather something that would give them a sense of normalcy. The events of the past few months were the farthest from anything they would have anticipated when going into their final year, that they longed for something mundane. Dancing in a hall booked by the school with a bunch of their classmates while being chaperoned by their teachers who would much rather be anywhere but there had never appeared to be as exciting as it did to them now.

Suit shopping and discussing whether they should say fuck gender norms and wear corsages instead of the cop out of wearing them on their suits had become the highlight of their week. Living a life seen in a comic book truly did turn the simplest things into something thrilling.

Jungkook had never regretted becoming Spider-man, it was everything he ever could have wanted, but it did make him realize he had missed out on things he otherwise would have overlooked. Going to school sporting events, study sessions and pulling all nighters with his friends, actually working for the school newspaper, discussing post secondary school choices — all of those things had taken a backseat to being Spider-man and part of him wished he could have seen that sooner.

The reality was that he would be separated from his three best friends for the first time in four years, longer with Yoongi, and he hadn't taken advantage of really being with them and enjoying their company. He didn't even know what universities they had applied to, hell, Jungkook himself didn't even know where he was going when September came around. He applied to schools half-heartedly not entirely caring where he was accepted since he had been so hellbent on being a superhero.

For the first time since being bitten by that radioactive spider, Jungkook longed to be a normal high school student. For the first time, he felt as if he truly missed some of the best moments of his life and his biggest regret was dragging his friends into it with him.

Of course, he was grateful they were with him, he didn't think he would have made it this far if they weren't. But, by being Spider-man, he had robbed them of some of their moments too. He was sure all three of them would deny it, but it was true. Yoongi most of all.

Instead of worrying about exams and going on campus tours, Yoongi had to worry about his newly developed powers. Jungkook knew if Yoongi knew he was thinking like this he would receive a scolding and lecture three hours long, but he couldn't help but feel guilty. And couldn't help but wonder if Yoongi wished Jungkook was normal so he wouldn't be in the mess they were in now.

Jungkook shook his head, attempting to dissolve the doubts and worries manifesting in his mind that he knew deep down were ridiculous. Yoongi wasn't like that, and they had had their share of conversations surrounding the topic. Yoongi loved Jungkook and Jungkook loved Yoongi, that was the only fact that truly mattered. He decided it was just the realization of them being apart from each other for the first time since they became friends that was the cause of the fear and worry, which he knew he needed to cast aside for the time being.
