Anakin knew his choice was wrong the second he left Mace's quarters.
In fact, he didn't have to be asked twice from Padme to go back. (Obi-Wan proposed to Windu that if he could get Anakin back, neither of them would say anything to the council.)
But Anakin really didn't want to go back. But he knew he had to.
So, as if nothing had happened between the two, Mace Windu and Anakin Skywalker set off to Florrum.
Ahsoka Tano blamed herself for the death of Steela Gerrera.
And she knew Lux felt the same way.
Yet, she was confused on what happened the day prior. Was Lux really about to kiss her? Or was she just imagining it?
And, what would she have done if he did?
Ahsoka couldn't help but acknowledge her attraction to the senator. But she knew it was all wrong. You're not a Jedi anymore.
Still, Ahsoka couldn't help but think this was all wrong. That she wasn't supposed to be there. That this was all a lie.
However, Lux thought much differently. He believed it was fate that Ahsoka Tano was in his grasp.
He truly believed that he was wrong before about Steela. Ahsoka didn't kill her.
He couldn't ignore his feelings any longer. He thought Ahsoka was very attractive. And he knew for sure that he definitely liked her.
He couldn't believe his own stupidity. He shoved the one girl away who he knew would always be there to save him when the time called.
Well, dear Ahsoka, it's my turn to save you now.
Anakin Skywalker felt the awkwardness between him and the Master Jedi beside him. He knew he should apologize, but of course he was too stubborn to actually say the words I'm sorry.
What Anakin wished the most, was to find his lost padawan.
Even if it was just to make sure she was okay.
He figured she was out of harm's way. That she was already in a great job and possibly in a relationship.
However, something in the force felt wrong. And Anakin knew that he needed to find Ahsoka.
Ahsoka was cleared to go off the IV and catheter a few rotations later. But she still had to wear Lux's shirts, on account pants wouldn't fit over her brace.
Lux also insisted on pushing her in a wheelchair. He claimed he didn't want her to injure her knee further. (Which was a good point.)
Mornings soon became a ritual. Every start of the rotation, Lux came to wake Ahsoka up, and would give her a clean new shirt. He would then turn away while she made her switch. Then when she was ready, he carried her to the chair, putting fluffy socks on her toes—even though Ahsoka didn't need help, Lux did it anyway—and then would push her to the dining room. He'd sit her right next to him, and made sure she took her medicines.
"Lux," she'd always start. "I can do things by myself. I don't need a babysitter."
And then Lux would say, "But Ahsoka, I want to help you. And you need time to rest. Think of me as a servent."
And then Ahsoka would roll her eyes at him, and try—keyword try—to make him stop taking care of her.
Yet one day, the whole schedule was messed up.
Lux went to go wake Ahsoka up, but she wasn't in her cot. Frantic Lux found the Togruta in the lavatory, vomiting last night's dinner.
"Go away, Lux," she said before another round hit her. The saddened Lux walker over to Ahsoka and the toilet. He knelt down and began to rub her back in effort to comfort.
But Ahsoka winced at the touch. She wanted to tell him to stop, that it was inappropriate, but her meal was spilling out of her. "I'm sorry you have to see this," she croaked.
"No no. It's alright. I'm here for you." Heat rose in Ahsoka's paling cheeks. "I mean it. I wasn't there for you before, and I want to be here now."
Ahsoka knew it was wrong. An ex-Jedi shouldn't have a romantic relationship with a senator.
But at the same time, she basked in the attention of the good-looking Luxor Bonteri.
A few standard hours later, Lux tucked Ahsoka into her cot. "Lux?" she asked.
"Yes, dear?"
"Um. . . . I know I shouldn't ask this, but can you stay here tonight? I just. . . . would like some company."
Lux's heart practically bounced out of his chest and danced on the floor. She asked me to stay with her! "Of course!" he replied, happily getting under the covers.
Ahsoka turned to face Lux, snuggling tightly against him. In response, Lux's arms went protectively around the sick girl. No one was going to hard a montral on her head.
After a few moments of hard breathing, Lux noticed that Ahsoka was finally asleep. He smiled to himself. She was quite something.
Holding on tighter to the gift, he kissed her forehead. "I love you, Ahsoka. I know you won't hear this, but I didn't know how much I truly loved you until I thought I would lose you."
