I don't know why, but writing the pregame version of these two gives me a sort of vibe that I can't get enough of so expect to see more pregame boys-

You can pretty much call this the aftermath of the previous pregame chapter I wrote-

Warning: some strong words and slurs

Third person POV

Kaito opened his eyes groggily. He had almost forgotten where he was if it wasn't for the excessive amount of posters and figurines in the room.

Obviously, it was shuichi's. Kaito hadn't meant anyone quite like him. The boy was also so passionate when it came to something he liked, yet he managed to be so quiet and secretive towards everyone else. It fascinated Kaito if he was honest, to see how he could change in an instant. He wondered if shuichi had any other personalities besides the current two.

Kaito sighed. He stared at the curled up boy next to him, a gameboy plopped down a couple inches away from him, before turning his head and thinking about the time. What time is it? He felt stupid for thinking that, as if it wasn't obvious for himself that that was what he was trying to figure out.

His vision was hazy and blurred no matter how many times he rubbed his eyes, yet he was somehow able to witness the digital clock on shuichi's desk and barely read the vibrant red numbers on it.

It was five thirty. Kaito sighed once more. He hated waking up early, especially on a school day. He was bored and could only stare blandly at the dark roof above him, surprised that it's the only part of saihara's room without a poster on it.

It was a regular school day, a Thursday. Kaito sighed and watched the gray air puff out through his mouth. He liked Thursday's. There was no real reason for the preference, he just did. And he didn't feel like anyone needed an explanation on why.

It was cold outside, so he decided to light a cigar to keep him warm. It was comforting. Leaning against a car that obviously wasn't his while the feeling of his lungs being filled with toxic air was constant. He liked it like this, even if he was still at school.

The sound of damp footsteps dragged him out of his comfort and back to reality.

"Saihara." The simple sound of his name seemed to shock the boy to a nervous halt. "Darn," he could hear him mumble. Shuichi continued walking towards the taller male with a sheepish smile. "I was hoping to scare you."

Kaito grinned and returned to his cigarette. "S'that so?" The male sighed with displeasure as his cigar grew short and ashy, to which he then watched it flop on the floor and put it out of its misery with his shoe.

"Like the last time you tried to scare me," Kaito attempted to remind the boy of his quilt. "With a knife?" Kaito was now extremely close to shuichi, his hot breath tickling the shell of his ear, making shuichi blush unintentionally.

"I-it was by accident! You know that.." Shuichi poured slightly and turned his head in slight disbelief. It made Kaito laugh heartily.

"S'ok, shu. I was only messing around." Kaito removed shuichi's cap and proceeded to mess around with his hair. He then shrugged. "I kinda deserved it. I was bein' a fucking retard."

"Don't use that word." Shuichi pipped up. He didn't seem mad when he said it though, his voice was soft. And couldn't be used to command anyone anyway.

"Fuck. Right." They both sighed either in relief or exhaustion.

"Wanna head to my place?" Kaito asked, attempting to get rid of the comforting silence between them. "I got my controllers fixed. It also might rain soon."

Shuichi smiled. "You want to skip school again? This is the third time this week, momota-kun."

Kaito shrugged, almost unfazed. "So what? There's only one period left of this hell hole and then we're outtie." He pointed a thumb over his shoulder as a leaving signal. "Cmon, don't fuck around with me. I know you wanna, so let's go already."

It was shuichi's turn to shrug as he hopped of the vehicle, and taking a close look at it before he tagged along behind Kaito.

"You think the person who owns that car is going to be mad that you drew a penis on it?"

Kaito chuckled but never returned shuichi's confused yet somewhat impressed gaze.

"Oh yeah. That's kinda the point."

Their day had ended just like the night prior. They had been playing video games for a long while and eventually fell asleep, embracing one another tightly, kaito more than shuichi.

He took a long look at the curled up boy next to him before bringing him close and exchanging their body warmth. Kaito wasn't sure how the boy was able to fall asleep so easily. His room was bland and had no posters unlike the fan-boy's. He remembered shuichi telling him how he always had trouble sleeping without something covering his walls, he hated the blank color at night. Yet somehow, he slept peacefully is Kaito's arms.

The taller male concluded that it had to do something with him and eventually just left it at that. He started to run his fingers through shuichi's hair. Something about it's somewhat greasy, yet soft nature comforted him, from its coconut smell to its texture.

Kaito took it all in. He was soothed nonetheless. It was something he liked about shuichi, how effortlessly he could make Kaito yearn for him. His hair, his body, his face. Everything about him was comforting.

Just the way he had liked it.
