Third person POV

Maki set the boxes down on the floor of their new house, before swooping they knocked out himiko in her arms.

"She's already fallen asleep?" Shuichi whispered, tapping his chin. "Though I shouldn't be that surprised." He smiled sheepishly and sighed as he hit the couch. He was exhausted. His arms were red and burned from having to carry heavy boxes. After the killing game, himiko, shuichi, and maki decided to buy a house and live together. Even if neither of them wanted to admit it, they were the only people they had, and couldn't stand being away and separated from each other.

It was a spacious house, much to their comfort. There were two floors, kitchen and living room on the first floor, bedrooms and bathrooms upstairs. It was a hassle buying furniture and having to bring them into the house by themselves, but shuichi was relieved to say that it was worth it.

He may not have been able to forget the recurring murders and executions of his friends, but he can attempt to start over, with the help of maki and himiko.

Maki nodded and stared intensely at the sleeping himiko in her arms. "I think that's all the everything," she commented. "Start opening boxes."

Shuichi smiled. "Ah, sure thing." He picked up the box closest to him, retrieved the razor from his pocket and used it to cut a hold on the taped shut box. He began removing the contents inside it until he was caught with a saddening and familiar sight.

"What's wrong?" Maki asked. She took notice of shuichi's hesitant expression and peered into the box that rested in his trembling legs. "Oh." Inside the box was Kaito's purple jacket, folded neatly and buried other other things. Shuichi carefully reached in and took ahold of it, feeling it's soft fabric comfort his fingertips.

The gold buttons were cold and shiny. Shuichi felt his heart swell with soft memories of the luminary.

He heard maki sigh faintly. "I'll give you some time alone," she said as she began walking up the stairs. "I'll put himiko in our room." Maki and himiko decided to share a room after shuichi chose to sleep in his own room. He told them that it was obviously nothing personal, he just wasn't sure how he'd feel being soothed to sleep by someone's embrace that wasn't his.

Shuichi hummed as a reply and carefully you liked out Kaito's jacket, as if any harsh pull would break it. Once he had the jacket in his arms, shuichi placed the opened box on the floor next to him.

Shuichi was unsure on what to do now that wasn't just staring at the coat with tears in his eyes. On impulse, shuichi hesitantly draped the purple coat over him, slipping only one arm through a sleeve just like kaito used to. The survivor noticed the ripped hole still in the jacket. His expression saddened at the sight but attempted to ignore it.

Instead shuichi tried thinking of good memories, even if Kaito's execution consistently replayed in his head.
